Remember "lune" is moon in French.
"lunettes" is the shortened term for "lunettes de soleil" (sunglasses) So why are bezels called "lunettes?" Allow me to answer my own question... It is what surrounds an aperture. Lunettes de soleil are surrounding your very own apertures - eyeballs. The term "lune" doesn't seem to have anything to do with it that I can see unless the term came from the glow that surrounds the moon. BTW - LN = bezel black -- The French language puts the color or other attribute after the noun - opposite of English. |
