CK2998 Black/white/red

Nice!
And a pulsometer as well!
I’m liking this one a great deal.
Maybe a call is in order.

I think it's a good release. If I didn't have the ck2998 I'd go for it also.....the deal breaker was the red tachy hand.......it just bugs me personally but I know a lot of people like it.

I have to say I prefer the lollipop on the blue CK, but it’s not bad. Like the racing strap however, and assuming it’s priced competitively in the uk I may have a look.

I really like this release. It does confuse me that it has to be a limited release and is also called CK2998 just like the last one. I can't quite figure out what strategy Omega has at play.

This one caught my eye as well. I have since reserved it with my AD. Now I'm hunting an appropriate steel bracelet to order and pair with the watch.

I think it is rather unimaginative from omega. Exact same case and model as ck2998 with slightly different color scheme and bezel. It is a miss for me.

I can see that logic. For me, the blue CK was "Nice but not quite" when I looked at it in the metal. The changes to the 2018 model checked my boxes.

As always, we all have our individual preferences on style and functions. That's one of the things I enjoy about Omega, their diversity in offerings.

How is that different than the million other Speedmaster variants all based on the moon watch?

My Omega AD had the impression they will release this like the Speedy Tuesday with some form on social media/online application opposed to you being able to reserve/order it from an AD.

I should have an update on this today/tomorrow

That's interesting because omega said I would have priority on their next online release because I did not get a speedy Tuesday on the wait list. It is too bad as I am not a huge fan of this one.

I quoted the price on another thread as $5650, it's actually $5850, I saw the internal ordering guide. My local boutique believes this will be a store release not online only like the Speedy Tuesday.

Boo Hiss. Spoke with the Boutique today and they want it paid in full with absolutely no idea when they'll be able to deliver. No thanks.
Disappointed but life will go on, I'm not fundamentally against all deposits but paying in advance for a open-ended deal is absurd. My contact at the local Rolex Boutique asked me if I wanted on the Pepsi GMT list, I'm high up with $0 down.

The boutique here told me the same thing. After doing that last year with the 60th Anniv Speedmaster and then waiting 9 months for it, without a single update or any info along the way, I don’t think I’ll be giving Omega another full deposit. I’d rather have that money in my account than in Omega’s.

When the watch actually comes out, some time in December probably, I’ll just buy one. They’re making 2998 of them, I think I can get one.

Thanks for that info Dave. A lot can happen in nine months, if I still want one then it sounds like there will still be some available.

That's quite odd that your boutiques are asking for 100% deposit. I have mine reserved with my AD without any of that nonsense.

I think that's the way boutiques roll....I have a thorough relationship with the local boutiques here (2 of them)....and it's always the same....full payment up front. They held my ~$25k for 11 months before delivering the trilogy last time....that put a sour taste in my mouth on the practice for sure. I've heard of many ADs that won't take deposits.

i definitely prefer the blue panda CK2998....

for some reason the black and red combination doesn't really seem to work for me...

just my personal preference

I like this watch!

It's so different from the other watches I own so I just had to put a deposit down at my nearest boutique.

is omega ever going to actually announce this reference? I've been trying to find more photos and some detail but can't find it anywhere...

No idea why Omega hasn't provided any advertising...or anything for that matter. I asked my AD when I was ordering the watch. He didn't know why either. I had known of its existence before he did. He ended up getting in touch with the shop owner whom was at Basel to snap pics for me and provide the details.

As to some more information on the new CK2998, Fratellowatches provides some nice pictures with decent information. Here's the link:

They did the same thing with the nonLE railmaster. Hodinkee did an article and pictures for Basel but the Omega website didn’t mention anything for months.

It's definitely a good looking watch, but I feel it's just milking the CK2998 theme too much following the 2016 release in blue.
