New SUB!! And an interesting chat with my AD...

Well, first things first! Waited 3 weeks (and posted a thread yesterday about it), and then received the call this morning that my first Rolex was waiting for me. I managed to zip over there during lunch (a 5 minute walk) and was blown away with how much better the watch looks in person than in pictures. I honestly felt like a little kid again! Here's a quick pic and then I'll summarize my AD chat:

My AD mentioned that in the last week he as learned that his Sub allocation for 2018 is a grand total of 8 watches - and he has already received 5 up until today. He is frustrated to say the least - he used to have 2 on display to show customers and now he can't even get them in to satisfy demand. The last Daytona he's received was a year ago from Feb! He can't understand the lack of product and he indicated that answers are nowhere to be found.

As far as my SS BLRO request goes - he's much less optimistic that we'll see it anytime soon. He's still receiving watches from his 2017 Basel orders. He also commented about demand - he is getting inundated with phone calls and requests to be put on lists from everywhere.

So, there's the 411 - I am super excited to get my first Rolex - it sounds like it may be the only one I'll be able to purchase for a (long) while.

Congrats on the watch and for posting what every AD should be saying instead of making up stories.

Apologies if this is the wrong forum but in general how do the AD allocations work. Does each AD get the same amount or would the higher volume/bigger city ADs get more?

The more trafficked cities/stores get more, but when you factor in the higher volume of customers and big spenders, if usually ends up more difficult to get something in the big cities.

Beautiful. Congratulations.

I have the no date version.

You're definitely right about these looking better in person. Pictures on the internet don't do these watches any justice.

You simply CANNOT go wrong with a SubC Date. It's far from my favorite Rolex but I'd still love on on my wrist. It's a classic and has stood the test of time. No wonder Rolex has not messed with the basic design. Congrats!

Congratulations! For what it’s worth, my AD told me I got their last Batman and that was months ago. I just don’t get this supply/demand issue. I love my BLNR but at the same time wish more guys who wanted it could buy it.

Yours looks amazing, BTW. The quintessential Rolex!
