Datejust 36 advice needed
Advice needed from follow TRFers!
Thinking about adding a Datejust 36 fluted bezel jubilee bracelet to the collection but am unsure about which dial to get. Blue: the safer colourway but I already have a blue dial AP and I eventually want to get a 5711 (which is also blue dial) Silver: seems overall a bit too silvery but it's probably the only iconic watch out there that could do with a silver dial Hard choice, please help! Sorry cannot help you as you have to wear the watch, so it should be your choice only the fact you like whatever dial that's all that matters.

Hi AC, I purchased the black-dial DJ 36 this past December. It's absolutely perfect for me; I love the watch and the dial. Regards, -Rick.

Here's a pic of the silver dial. I absolutely love it! In the sunshine, hell, even indoors that fluted bez fires off a bedazzling "light show". Check it out in person, pics don't it justice.
Incidentally, I also was torn between the blue and silver dials but bought the silver because it looked so classy. Blue on the other hand......lol! Mark Sent from my SM-A520W using Tapatalk |

If you’re open to Romans the Rhodium dial is a bit less “silvery” depending on the light.

One vote for silver here. There’s something about a light dialed DJ on jubilee that does it for me. Classic elegance. Good luck!

Blue has a beautiful sunburst dial. The silver is very nice too. Depends on what fits your life better. Do not base your opinion on pictures, try them on and see.

I’m a huge fan of the blue sunburst...I have a Date and a Datejust in white, you can never go wrong with white. I also have a Daydate with a black dial but it can be hard to see at certain times.
Go with what you like the most!...and enjoy it!

The reason I'm rushing to buy one is because I heard they're phasing out the concealed jubilee bracelet, the new datejust 36 jubilee with come with the oysterclasp

I got the SSDJ lady’s in two tone for my wife on our 50th, and the SS 36 for myself, both with silver dial and Jubilee. The TT looks great on her, but I preferred the SS for myself and still do. I got the silver dial because I have a Seamaster pro in blue. I absolutely love both my wife’s and my DJ, but I must tell you that with the silver dial the white gold hands on mine can be difficult to see. Her hands are yellow, so much easier. That said, the silver dial is a real beauty, and I don’t regret the choice for a moment. With other blues in your stable I’d go silver.

I was vote more neutral colors like this one, although be ready for some people to think you're wearing a President. That happened to me occasionally with my silver dial DJ, for better or worse.

If you already have the AP blue dial and are planning to pick up a 5711 soon (good luck!) maybe add some variety and go with something different on the DJ. Jubilee, fluted bezel, and baton markers are my favorite configuration for the DJ 36mm. For dial color, I think you should consider the white dial. Really need to see it in person (unless you're outright against a white dial watch). Rhodium is nice as well.

I’ll second the vote for the rhodium dial. The black looks sharp. Are you sure that the silver isn’t doing it for you?

Which one sings to you? I like both, but if you already have a blue dial watch, I’d switch it up and get silver.

I tried the silver dial and it’s absolutely amazing. I love the 36 DJ and if it would be my debate, it would b/w the rhodium with roman numerals & the silver with sticks. Either way, a killer all rounder.

I’d go silver as well ... or white if that’s part of the shortlist.
For a blue, I’d go for the OP 36 blue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Fluted silver dial DJ36 on jubilee is my favorite configuration of that reference. I’ve considered picking one up this year before they get rid of the hidden clasp on the jubilee next year.

You have prior black dialed and blue dialed acquisitions - if no other watches in your collection are silver then getting that silver DJ36 makes a lot of sense.
