This is an old post

This is subjective. If you ask 100 collectors, you'd get 100 different choices. I'd say just buy what floats your boat and end enjoy these beautiful watches. Here'are are some (5) of my DJs:

This!

Even though professional models are the trend, I’d go as far as saying this 1600 may be my favorite Rolex of all time, period. Just beautiful and so functional. The only reason I don’t wear one is because I wanted a Day complication, so mine is a bit of an homage:

I haven't noticed any Tapestry dials...

Here's mine, owned since new (1985), not that I really wear it anymore.

Your top 5 Vintage DateJust

Here’s my recently acquired 16014. I purchased it from the original owner. Everything is original ... hands, dial, bracelet.
I love the Steel Sunburst Gray Dial, I’ve seen very few dials like mine and I do believe that I now own a special watch.

1601 linen dial would be my perfect DateJust.

They got that shade of blue perfect back in the day. Some of the modern references are a bit bright for my tastes.

Love those alpha “leaf” hands and they give the watch a little more vintage feel

This! Although I like black dials, the silver dial has always been the quintessential DJ for me!
