Hong Kong

Hey all, I've been living in Hong Kong temporarily for the past month for work and the rain finally gave me an excuse to do some browsing for watches. First off, i will say that the inventory at authorized dealers is even more scarce than back where I live in the U.S. Generally, I'll see the usual Explorers, Milgauss, and Subs when I stop by an AD. This is definitely not the case in Hong Kong or any city it seems. Not surprising by the dozens of threads already on this topic.

Second, I've never seen so many people wearing luxury watches in one place in my entire life. For example, I'll see at least a few Daytonas a day and even saw a guy wearing a nice 5712 nautilus. This is obviously much different than what I normally see.

Anyway, I stopped by The Vintage Concept today in Central to do some browsing. I have been following them on Instagram for a while now and couldn't resist lol. I was extremely impressed by not only their inventory, but how professional and knowledgeable their staff are. Even though I was  pretty upfront about not being in the market to purchase anything right now, the sales lady didn't push me to buy anything or hint that I should leave the store. What a great experience overall!

Hong Kong is certainly a paradise for WIS

Now here's some pictures:

Thanks, prices are on the higher side but The Vinage Concept is a very reputable store and the pieces I looked at were in top condition. I'd imagine you could find more competitive prices if you looked hard enough.

Love Hong Kong! Within a few blocks in Central, there are five Patek dealers. Folks there like watches.

Thanks and you should! There's more to do here than look at watches but it's a great perk

Just got back from HK last week. Probably my favourite place in the world but I’m yet to visit a grey dealer there!

I’m not too keen on visiting the ADs though, find it quite uncomfortable how close the sales associates follow you around even when you tell them you’re just browsing.

yah..it's asian loves to spend on luxury items. It's normal. Don't be surprise to see cab driver wearing Rolex. It's common in the United States too...

Thanks for the kind words for our city :)

Have a great time in Hong Kong!

And just FYI, it's a bit if a cultural thing to have nice watches here. (Without meaning any disrespect) I've seen a butcher wearing a Hulk and waiter wearing a Daytona before

Here’s a marvellous thread from a couple of years ago with some recommendations of places to see and visit - I’ve been intending to take a day and follow the path laid out by one of the posters, but haven’t found time to do so...but were I a visitor on a rainy Sunday....

In any event, hope it provides some amusement. The watch culture here is pretty remarkable!
