The inverted 6 dial is considered rare. The Patrizzi dial is a defective dial promoted by an Italian years ago.

I am no zenith expert but I do have a few of them and I’m not sure I have seen or heard of a C series. Is that a 4 liner or floater?

I know the Patrizzi is a defective dial but people are pretending it's rare, is it really or it's only a merchandising thing? I find the inverted more interesting!

The 1988 Floating dial R serials are the rarest 16520 Daytona's. This is the first series watches that were produced to market.

Who's merchandising? It's a fault like the cream explorer. And yes it apears to be quite rare.

how about other series of 16520? Are they worth much less? From C24, prices of zenith are at least 18K and above ... geez

Did the floater come before the 4 liner? What about the c series? I’ve never heard of it

Mark I

This is common in the early watches with serial starting with R (1988) and L(1989).

This is one of the more desirable configurations with the word "Cosmograph" located lower in the dial or "Floating Cosmograph". As a matter of fact, the whole text "ROLEX, Oyster Perpetual, Superlative Chronometer" is situated lower than the later dials.

The subdials use a rounded and smaller font.

The sub-dial at the six o'clock position (hour totalizator), the number six is inverted and appears as a "9" and not as the intended "6". This "defect" appeared in dials as late as 1994-5.

The sub-dial at the three o'clock position (minute totalizator), had four "dash" markings between five minute markers as opposed to later dials which only had three "dash" marks.

This is a tritium dial and is labeled as "T SWISS T" at the six o'clock position.

This dial configuration was made for about one year.

Thanks to Ed Delgado!
