AD Ethics

I purchased a YG DJ from a College Station Tx AD for my wife last Christmas. I ordered a midsize prez with factory BLK MOP dial and diamond lugs and the Ad was going to
add a strong after market 1+ carat bezel.I have been a very good customer for a number of years.
The watch turned out to be much to big and bold, so we asked the AD if he had a 26mm prez we could trade for. He eluded the call for weeks having his sales rep fight for us to accept the watch. He finally agreed to ship us a similiar watch in a 26 mm and all factory for 3,000 more. BTW, We never have been given a discount on a rolex from this AD.
My wife liked this watch from the sound of it and we accepted the deal , however I was so stupid , when I sent the papers into the insurance agent the watch showed a K serial.
So i payed 2008 prices for a 2001 watch. How stupid am I and what a cut thro=at this guy is.
Besides my obvious mistakes what's your opinion.

I'd make them take the K series watch back and demand a newer model. If not, they should offer a discount (15% at least, possibly more). This AD sucks !

You didn't receive a discount on that watch? Talk about getting bent over...

I'd check the receipt for any return policy, and take advantage of it if one exists. Better deals are out there.

I would not be happy about a K watch - technically they are the same... I think - however, seems like you should have received a new stock - recent arrival IMO.

you should get a new watch or 25% off (or more) for the 2001 model. IMHO.

Well there are a few non moving gold models of Y and K series with ADs so what you have got is a new watch. Yet im sure you can manage to get a good discount as gold models are not fast movers.

That AD may have been a little slick with you, but he should of given you a better discount since it is an older serial watch.

Unfortunately, a deal is a deal. As long as the watch is brand new and you were not lied to, I am not sure you have an argument. I believe most consumers buy a Rolex becausee it is a Rolex with limited appreciation for the construction, movement, etc.

AD's make their money on these customers. Good luck. I hope you get justice.

uhhhh...what?

Would definitely talk to the store manager, if not work out ban them for life. There are too many Rolex ADs in Texas that like to earn your business, wouldn't take bs like that.

Maybe you should talk to the manager and explain that you've been a good customer and if you don't get some satisfaction you will take all future business elsewhere. Not sure they will apologize and cut you a check but at least you'll feel better and they'll know that you know you've been taken.

Thanks for all your input.

The serial # is K 599813, is this a 2001 model and does the # indicate that its factory diamond dial and bezel, TY

ADs don't put aftermarket diamond bezels on their watches. You might have been working with someone who sells new Rolexes - but that doesn't sound like an AD.

If you bought from an AD, you should have papers. The papers would answer your questions. This really sounds like you're dealing with someone who sells grey market watches.

ADs can not sell after market dials or bezels. If they do, it is in direct violation of their agreement with Rolex. That is something Rolex USA would love to hear about. Selling a new K series watch as new they would yawn at.
