I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. 5167 was my go to Patek for 2 years, which sadly is a long time for me. This is to say that I love the 5167. I now have had the 5164 for nearly a year and I would not go back. I really can’t think of any criticisms aesthetically or functional speaking, which is extremely rare for me.

none here aesthetically, functionally the travel time is really only a travel time with can be limiting. Its weird to track a second time zone when you are at home... IE Local is Local and Home time is somewhere else or the reverse where home is home and local is somewhere else. Its the only weakness to the functionality. When traveling though its perfect. That is where it differs from other dual time watches, where the second timezone doesnt have a label.

So did Paul McCartney. I have several GMT pieces including the 5990. I generally wear this one when i travel across an ocean. It is so light and comfortable and under the radar so not as concerned walking through the streets. I really love mine.

Thierry Stern used to wear the watch regularly.

Which one is your fave if you had to choose between 5164 and 5524? :)

64 no question is so much more versatile and its the best travel watch there is IMO. The 24 is a lot more fun to wear though.

head says 64, heart says 24... 5990 beats them all though

Thought you might say that!! :)

Need to try a 5990 at some point. Just seems too chunky for a Nautilus (for my taste of course and only going by pics)

if a sub is fine, the 5990 is fine. Its really not thick by normal standards. Probably looks thicker in pics than it wears.

Depends on what you are going for. The thin nautilus watches look less sporty to me. Obviously lighter and more comfortable though.

Yeah - sorry I meant thickness with regards to the classic Nautilus proportions etc

Will have to try one at some point (grey AD of course )

exactly. I really don't think one exists. Even a Rolex GMT while great is pretty recognizable and not as comfortable.

Travel time is a better dual time display than a GMT hand unless you can quickly think in 12 hour time and 24 hour time simultaneously. I cant, so i always look at a 24 hour dial and see 16:05 for example and then have to convert it into 4:05.
Staring at my watch longer than necessary and looking like an idiot that cant read an analog display.

Interesting that you mention having to convert one time to another. Probably the single biggest reason I sold my 5980 was that having a bullseye chrono dial comprising both a 30 minute and 12hr chrono register just wasn’t easy to read The 5990 60 min counter seems much more intuitive to me.
