Sea dweller 666 bracelet

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting, so I hope I’m following all the right etiquette. I bought an ‘86 Sea Dweller 666 from my AD a few months ago and just took it back in about a month ago because one of the links looked a bit bent and unstable. They probably should have mentioned it when I bought it, but I didn’t notice it (due to excitement), so I guess that’s fair. They told me the whole bracelet would need to be replaced by Rolex, so I went ahead with it. The trade in cost would have been about $1150 vs $1300 without trading in the bracelet, so I decided to just go for the $1300 and keep the original bracelet.

Fast forward a month and I finally have the watch back with a new bracelet. A few problems, though...
  1. They didn’t give me back my original bracelet. They’re supposed to call me back to talk about getting it to me, but I wonder if that’s even possible at this point
  2. The new bracelet doesn’t have that extender link that the original had which allowed it to be extended a bit to go over a wet suit.
  3. The whole process took twice as long as they said it would. The AD blamed Rolex, saying they didn’t return their calls or emails and then when they quoted a delivery date, it still came in over a week later.

The new bracelet feels a bit odd. Not sure if it just needs some breaking in. But I’m pretty disappointed to not have that extender link, which I found really cool. The bracelet kind of squeaks a bit and feels sort of sharp, and the center clasp is pretty stiff, which is probably just a matter of it being new.

Does anyone have any advice? I figured going through an AD and Rolex would be more seamless than this, but the whole process has been a bit of a disaster.

Thanks in advance!

Make sure You keep pressing them for your old Bracelt,$150 trade in is RIDICULOUS.A new Bracelet will squeak,Totally normal.I’d send your old Bracelet in for restoration and You could probably get $750 on the open Market for it.

Thanks - I talked to the AD today and they’re passing the buck again, the guy said he’s never heard of Rolex letting you keep the bracelet. Luckily I have the email from his colleague telling me that was the case. He said they’ll call me back Monday. My guess is they’ll offer me the $150, which is insane.
