1978 Daydate advice
I have been looking at a new(ish) Daydate - in yellow gold - as my next addition (seeking a dressier, classic watch).
A new one or nearly near is going to cost me circa £25,000 or so. What I I went for an old version - I can see a 1978 (my birth year) for around £7,500. What would I need to look out for, on such an old watch? Obviously it is a 36 instead of a 40, but any other issues / cautionary advice? How different is that watch going to be to the new models?

6-digit Day-Dates have about twice as much gold as the old 4-digits.

Not overly polished case(it’s gold), not overly stretched band, all original parts and period correct.
I blame it on autoconnect. |

Bracelet stretch. Get a good example or pass.
Good ones are out there at a slightly higher price but it's worth it. |

Consider bracelet length. I needed a couple of extra links for my WG one, and it was a b*tch to find them. If it's something extra-rare like a bark bracelet, forget trying to find spare links...

I think this a great video when buying a day-date:
