Grand Seiko SBGA387
Has anyone had an opportunity to see this (SBGA387) in person yet? The SS blue dial looks really nice. I'm new to GS, but this watch has grabbed my attention. For a first (and maybe only), I'm still vacillating between a Spring Drive movement and the Hi Beat movement.
Any thoughts on this watch as well as which movement you'd prefer as a "one and only"? https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/th...mited-editions https://www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/collections/SBGA387G/ Borrowed picture from HODINKEE below.

Don’t know about movement but that is a stunner, and I’m not a fan of gs

I prefer the highbeats but this is a very cool piece. Buy right and I don’t think you’ll get raked over the coals if it doesn’t work out.

Love it, seen previews of it few months ago. I miss not having a GS, I’m on the fence somewhat on this & SBGA375. Pretty much similar watch but has the dark blue face and several Grand less.

I got to handle one last week. It is pretty spectacular in person.
For a one and only... I was thinking about what I would choose, but my answer is I can't decide and it's difficult to stop at one anyway. Ok I lie - my Grail GS is the 8-day manual wind spring drive in RG - that would be my one and only

I love me some GS's but that baby blanket dial is not for me.

If one GS, I think Spring Drive is the way to go. As for the dial, it’s about personal taste on that one...

Beautiful watch. My AD got one the other day and posted on Instagram the pictures. I went by a day latter and was told that it sold within the hour of the post. I will see the next one if it hangs around long enough for me to get to the AD..

Funny the GS Love recently. I have had a SD GS for at least 5 years. Amazing watch. Everything about the GS line is spectacular.
Steve, you can’t go wrong with either SD or Hi Beat. Just find the one you love and buy it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It looks very similar to your day date platinum. Not big fan of GS, the only one I would buy is the peacock. |

Posted on your other thread - got mine a week ago and it is on my wrist now. My first Grand Seiko after years of collecting - a very cool watch. Details are amazing, blue dial, Spring Drive - I thought this one checked all the boxes as my first GS.

I believe there was one for sale here from Takuya recently? Recommended as a seller 100% from me after purchasing a SBGH267 from him.
Personally I like the GS dials with a bit of character so if this floats your boat then do it. |

Had a chance to see it in person and bought it right away. They are amazing. I am a HUGE fan of the Snowflake but felt it was too lightweight and dial was too big for me at 41mm. The 387 has an equally nice dial, comes with TWO extra straps, limited edition US first (500ish pieces), 40mm and steel, AND the movement has the limited edition markings?!
I was incredibly lucky to pre-order one and ended up with an opportunity to buy another one since one of the buyers dropped out - thinking my brother or friends might want one. See photos. Last edited by HL65; 25 October 2018 at 06:51 PM.. |

Great pickup! Are the extra straps 19 or 20mm?

Man...I really like this. I just couldn’t justify it as I have the SBGJ227 which has same case and steel. But man, that’s awesome

its a gorgeous piece. my client just picked one of ours up. The blue is really something else. It has a way of dancing in the light that you don't get from the snowflake. some might find the blue a little off putting but I like it.

It somehow doesn't look like that in real life to me. The dial has no real depth to it.

19mm. The fact that it comes with 2 high quality straps and deployant is tremendous value and they look amazing too! Truly a good candidate for your one and only!

So it wont be redundant if there’s already a snowflake in one’s collection?

Quite keen on getting one and am wondering what would be an acceptable discount one can expect to get off the MSRP.
Thanks |
