Doug, hopefully you were not the winning bidder on this POS fake! The tells are this,

1. There's always a beat-around-the-bush story and not just straight up description. In this case, he has to preface the entire sale by explaining his feedback of zero!

2. The date aperture looks way too small, the date font does not look like the Tudor serif

3. The case is not period correct for that Tudor, it is a modern (poor) fake Rolex case which likely goes with that fake Rolex dial.

4. The end links are sterile (not numbered)

5. The Rolex dial that is part of the sale is obviously fake as it can't possible fit into a Tudor ETA 28xx based movement (which looks to have a spacer).

There's prolly other stuff I'm missing, and I am no expert, but these are obvious tells. The only genuine part might be the Tudor branded rotor, but even those are repped.

The consensus here is that it's not in anyone's best interest to cite the details of counterfeit pieces.

The WUS site has under its forum rules and guidelines, rule #9, strictly prohibiting various issues concerning fakes.

I am unable to locate any similar rules here at TRF. Personally I agree with it not being in the best interest to disclose issues seen on fakes.

Besides the "potential" that it could get out of hand to where these sorts of disclosures become so prevalent and detailed that they start using up a lot more of of TRF resources.

Just my humble opinion; yours may vary.

IMO, the issue of going into detail is not aimed at the manufacturer of fakes, but rather the sellers

If we disclose how we can tell, then they are going to try to obscure those details in any potential listing - maybe not in this particular case, but you get the idea …..

Bidding ended at $3850 w/19 bids, and then seller relisted same watch with a $2000 starting bid. Possible non paying buyer.
