ABC vs LA Watchworks pricing

From everything I've read they both are about the same quality of service. But which does it at a better price? I recently emailed both for a quote and for the same service and ABC was $150 cheaper. Is this consistent with you that have reached out to both?

My experience echoes this almost exactly. Both got the exact same email with exact same pictures. LAWW started at 500 and ABC was 150. Both stated an inspection would give a more accurate quote obviously. LAWW was super quick to respond and ANC was a couple days later. Subsequent coms have been quick from both. Both offer shipping options via emailing a label. At this point I'm leaning towards LAWW.

I haven't used LAWW. I have used ABC. I have been very happy with ABC, and Aaron usually responds to my emails quickly. I have attached what I paid for the service on my 1675 GMT. These are all prices that I was quoted immediately upon first contacting ABC, so there was nothing secretive. I hate secretive pricing. It all seemed quite reasonable, and the lug chamfers are gorgeous.

Interesting. I think I will go ahead with ABC. I emailed both 5 days ago and received a response from both today. I have a recently new submariner that have very little scratches on them, but I seriously scratched up the back of my case with the spring bar removal tool. So I asked them to redo the back and while it's there polish out the entire case and bracelet. I also asked for regulation. ABC offered to polish the case back for free with the regulation which cost 95$. Then he wrote back they can do the entire watch for $200. All while LA quoted me 95$ for the regulation plus $350 for the entire watch. HUGE difference. I plan on mailing it to ABC tomorrow. Am I wrong to assume they both have the same quality of service? From what I've read ABC is bigger and more established and that some of the guys that worked at ABC started LA. Is this correct?

I can't speak to who does better work. I can only say that I'm very happy with what ABC did for me.

I think they are the same size as far as total employees. And you got it reversed, laww split from abc.

I blame it on the autoconnect.

I made a post about it in the vintage forum, showing the chamfers. It's actually running slow, now, but it's going to be taken care of. Not the first time something has gone wrong after a vintage watch has been serviced, I don't blame ABC at all (the watch was made in 1968...). Anyway, here is a pic of it.

I’m not sure which is better but Rik Dietel at Time Care Inc does great work.

Had a ding in the watch case of my brand new Patek repaired by ABC. They did laser filling and polished the entire case out.

Before:

After:

Don't know if it's that noticeable but the ding was completely filled in and the watch looked like brand new.

That ding is certainly noticeable in the photo. ABC does great work, for sure. Nice PP, by the way. :)

There are only a handful of very good independents out there, ABC Watchwerks is certainly one of them.

I am considering using one of these companies to restore a vintage 1665. It is pretty used, polished and needs a new crystal....recommendations?

Anyone know of similar watch service places as good as LAWW or ABC in New York?

I have no personal experience with either company but you may want to read through this to make up your own mind.
