Rolex and Age Group (Fun Game)
This is not to be taken seriously. Wear whatever you want. It's just meant to be a fun game. Pick one Rolex watch for each age group and why.
10s- Vintage model. Anything else is going to send the wrong message. Saying it belonged to your grandpa sort of overcomes the negative stigma. 20s- Explorer II. You're young and want to disassociate with the norm. 42mm is bigger than most of the its Rolex brethren, while the pop of color says you are young while still having classic tastes. 30s- Submariner. You are calming down a bit but still youthful. Something classic and sporty fits you. It'll go with every outfit and you can't go wrong. 40s- Daytona. You've made it. You have a lot more disposable income. You are not content with the standard anymore and want to make a splash. You are still holding onto your youth and want to be sporty. The Daytona is just the exclusive, flashy, sports watch you need to match that nice sports car and house. 50s- Sky-Dweller. I'm not that old! This is the most advanced movement Rolex makes. It's exclusive but still has classic elements found in the Datejust. It's not the obvious Daytona but a talking piece. It's still big and bold, holding onto your youth. 60s- Day-Date "President". Ok, I'm old. I have the money to spend so now I'm going full on precious metal and no one can judge me. I swore I wouldn't buy grandpa's watch but now I am grandpa. It's part of my uniform and no one will question it. 70+- Datejust. Old and absolutely nothing to prove. It's the classic. I'll wear it everywhere and just forget it's even there. |

Let me fix one for you:
50s - GMT-Master on Jubilee. At this stage age in our lives it's all about comfort and ease of use. Perfect for our yearly overseas adventures and by God it's fun to channel Magnum PI |

Teens - Oyster Perpetual. Colorful, yet elegant. Can fly under the radar if required or can attract attention if you feel like it.
20s - Submariner. You want something that is sporty and yet classic. In your mind this is the quintessential Rolex that combines all the qualities you are looking for. It is also a good symbol of showcasing your achievement of finishing university and landing a decent job. 30s - Yacht Master II. You want to show off. What goes better than large watch that doesn't share design DNA with Subs/GMTs/SDs of the world and yet is made by same manufacturer. 40s - Daytona. You still want a piece that shows off, but is not as ostentatious as YMII. People around who know watches will definitely know what you are wearing. Those who don't aren't worth impressing. 50s - Sky-Dweller. You showed off enough, this time it's about time to get something that can be used anywhere. Dress it up to a suit, dress it down to jeans and T-shirts. Has annual calendar so you don't need to bother changing the date and 24 hour dial so you can use it as your trusty travel companion. 60s - Day-Date You earned it, you have a right to wear anything you want without anyone as much as thinking of questioning it. 70+ - Explorer It is a tool watch, that is not afraid to take a beating. You won't take it off to play with your grand kids, or for gardening, or for anything for that matter. |

Teens - TT DJ36mm. Clueless about watches and take one of dad's. You wear it to the Prom thinking you are cool.
20s - Submariner Date. You have a decent job and you just got your first bonus. You are stoked and want to buy something nice to celebrate. You listen to your friends and everyone tells you to get a Rolex. 30s - Submariner. You are into watches and realize THE Sub does not have a date. 40s - GMT Master II. You used to be able to add/subtract hours to your home time and thought the second timezone is a useless function. Now you are too lazy to do simple math and would rather look down at the GMT hand. 50s - OP 39. Your eyes are starting to go and need a clean dial to tell the time. 60s - Daytona. After 30 years, you finally get that coveted phone call from your AD that your Daytona is in. 70+ - Your dad's TT DJ36mm.. You give away all your watches and keep the most sentimental piece. |

Teens - Beat up dayjust borrowed from Dad's drawer
20s - SubC Date, still a kid just wants what the default Rolex 30s - Any vintage Rolex with good patina and faded bezels. Pepsi GMT on distressed leather would be perfect. 40s - Not there yet. Don't know. Most probably cycle through a tonne of watches but end up keeping the simplest Explorer to compliment my vintage Pepsi GMT 50s - Skydweller because I can afford buying the best old man Rolex 60s - Probably swap Rolex watches with my kids 70s - Box of Rolex chocolates every year to my nursing home will do |
