An excellent "problem" to have, hehehe...

I recently purchased a Yachtmaster SS/plat as many regulars here might remember my original post when I was concerned that is was not real because the cyclops did not seem to magnify 2.5x.

Now I have a new "problem": every morning I grab the Yachtmaster and my datejust mop dial with diamond bezel, that I used to adore, is collecting dust on my winder.

Is this just "new watch infatuation" or is my DJ doomed to the winder? Should I sell it to recover some of the cost for the new platty?

I bought it used in 2002 for $2000, and added the MOP dial and diamond bezel about 3 years ago for $900 off of Ebay. So I got about 3k invested in it and have worn it every day for the last 7 years.

Ebay listing for this watch seem to close around $3000 or even less. Does anyone think its even worth considering selling it, I don't "NEED" the cash or anything.

Thoughts please.

I'd keep it. If you don't need money for emergency, why sell the watch. If you buy a watch to later resell it, then why buy it in the first place, I wonder. BTW, congrat on the newly acquired Yachtmaster. It's a very beautiful watch and so is the DJ - absolutely stunning and blinging.

Can anyone else offer their personal advice or share their story of a similar experience?

I wore the diamond DJ today so I wouldn't feel like I'm neglecting it. Gosh, these watches are a very personal thing to me, I wore it so it's feelings wouldn't be hurt, lol.

It's the new watch affair. I'm having the same issue... give some time for the "new-ness" to wear off before you decide.

Mike,

I can see how painful it is for you caught in this web of indecision. To resolve this issue, place your DJ in the box I will be sending to your house, soon to be overnighted to my address. How I hate to see others suffer! Now, is there any other way in which I might be of service? Taffi

Beautiful watch. If you've worn it every day for seven years, I'll bet you would miss it if you sell it. I'd keep it if it were me.

I've only ever sold one out of eight Rolexes I've owned, and that too only after using it for 6 years. It was sold because it never felt quite as right as the others and only went with great reluctance on my part. Only sell if the watch no longer appeals anymore, you're never going to wear it again and and you think you can put the money to better use.

I sold my SS DJ this year and I really miss it, even though I didnt wear it that much. I sold it to offset the cost of my TT sub(couldnt afford to keep both)

If you can afford to keep it......keep it
