Exp II (3185) squeaky rotor

Hello guys,

I have a Z serial Exp II 16570 with the 3185 movement. I bought it second hand in Nov ‘16 from a reputable online retailer and it had been recently serviced.

It has been running perfect since then however I noticed over the last couple of days while wearing, and can feel the rotor turning with a slight vibration. Gently shaking the watch, I can hear a slight squeaking coming from what I presume is the rotor.

I’m not rough with my watches but don’t baby them either. It hasn’t been subjected to any large shock that I can remember and is still keeping good time.

If I take it to a local watchmaker, does this sound like something that could be an easy fix without an entire service? Seems too early to be servicing having had the watch for less than 3 years (although of course it is around 13 years old now).

Could be premature rotor axle wear, if the movement doesn't have any grinding dust in it then it is possible to have the automatic module cleaned/lubricated and the rotor axle replaced, without having to service the whole movement.

Thank you. I’m out of town with work for a few days so won’t be able to get it looked at til next week at the earliest. I’m hoping a full service won’t be required as it’s only been 3 years since the last one!
