It's the best choice to be honest.

My wife got me the exp ii for my birthday last December.

Great watch. Understated, brushed steel, great dial contrast (on the polar), GMT function very helpful.

Exp and Exp ii are the best Rolex watches IMHO.

I am a little biased but I’d say go for it. Very comfortable, under the radar Rolex. Most won’t notice it but watch lovers will appreciate it. Comfortable, wear with anything. Fits most wrist sizes and it’s time performance is amazing. If you are looking to impress and have desire for greater wrist presence then perhaps the Explore 2 or Sub may be more your thing.

Good Luck,
BR
MM

Great watch. Take a look at the 36mm version though, such a classic. And very affordable...relatively speaking.

The Explorer is excellent choice. Under the radar, simple and pure. Watch for all occasions. A safe choice. If you like it, then it is no brainer - go for it!

Yes, it's a very nice watch, readable, tough and easy to read. Most seem to be very accurate, mine was right on.

What 3? Have you been able to try them all on? Which do you prefer the most?

The Explorer is a great watch and it’s very satisfying. Initially when I got into Rolex, I was chasing the Daytona, the GMT etc. and I wasn’t paying attention to the Explorer.

Overtime though my tastes changed, and I really began to appreciate the Explorer as the best designed Rolex and with an AMAZING case. I may even trade a 116610LV and cash for a 1016. I really want to pull the trigger, waiting for the right model.

Took me awhile to get there but I’m here now.

Ask yourself not us, you're the one who has to look at it on your wrist every day. Every Rolex movement is excellent quality.

It is my first Rolex, I bought it together with a Sub date, but I haven't even worn the Sub because the Exp is just so irresistible every time I opened the watch drawer!

Simply the best. Not blinky, smaller case size, no date, versatile dress and casual.

I’ve owned six Rolexes: a Sub 14060M, a Hulk, a polar Exp II, a ceramic Sea-Dweller, a Kermit, and a Mark 2 Explorer 214270.

I only currently own the Explorer and would honestly not swap it for any of my previous watches. Absolute perfection in my opinion. The perfect size for me and the most comfortable watch I own apart from my Tudor BB58.

Go for it.
