DD40 WG Blue Romans

Considering this as my next watch. Question for current owners: Do you feel it differentiates itself enough from the blue dial DJ41 (which I owned previously). I understand the president bracelet is sublime but does it have enough “wow factor” on the wrist to justify an extra 20k? Pics and opinions welcomed!

Is it a "wow factor" for you, the wearer/owner, or for admirers? WG seems, for me, to be a very "cool, under-the-radar" metal. The lay-person looking at it will think it's SS, but you'll know it's something far more special. It'd be worth it to me.

Thanks and def wow factor for me. Is the shade of blue dial different? I hear it has a more sunburst effect but not sure. I haven’t seen one in metal at any AD hence asking.

Hey so I'm an owner of the blue dial DD 40. It's currently my favorite and go to watch in my collection. However before I bought the DD, I owned a DJ41 with a Wimbledon dial, but sold it shortly after I got the DD. Even though the dial is completely different, as is the bracelet, and both are different metals, I felt the two watches looked too similar in style and gave off the same vibe. This ultimately led me to always go for my DD while the datejust sat in its case. I think it would be even more too similar since you already had the blue DJ. If I had the blue DJ to begin with I would have never gone for the blue DD. I possible may have gone for the green dial or another metal in the DD. Hope this helps.

WG is all about the tactile feel and weight of the metal. There is no wow factor to it.

Very helpful and agreed they are very similar in style. I would love to get the RG version but I want a blue dial watch and not sure I can pull off RG/YG.

I would say then this is "THE" blue dial watch to get. As long as you wear it and love it, you can't go wrong. Plus you already sold your blue DJ so you won't have any problems there.

I never thought my first solid gold piece would be of the white gold variety but I just kept coming back to this one (mainly because of the president bracelet). In all honesty, I couldn’t love this piece more. It gets better every time I put it on. It’s stealthy, it’s hefty, it grabs attention but not in an overly ostentatious way, it’s beautiful, and it dresses up and down (which is probably what I love most about about it)! I say “buy it and don’t look back!”

Here’s some pics for encouragement...

I love the Roman numeral hour markers on the DD40 vs DJ series as well. Looks much more refined.

I didn't know Rolex made a stainless steel DD. Looks like just another SS watch. You looking to pay the extra 20K because it's for sale on the gray market?

This is kind of a naive statement - it’s like saying no one should ever buy a white gold watch because it looks like SS. In fact, in person white gold is noticeably different than SS in color/hue, tactile feel, weight, and the way it feels on the wrist.

OP, I haven’t seen the blue in person but tried on the WG/olive last week and it was something special. Only you can answer whether it’s worth the price to you.
