Rolex doesn’t care about SS supply problems
Adrian Barker is the messenger. I present it to TRF-ers as a video of potential interest to some. Don’t shoot me.
Adrian was invited to a meeting hosted by an AD, attended by the head of Rolex U.K. as well as some whale Rolex collectors. He confirms what many on here have said - Rolex isn’t restricting supply, they’re aware that folk are having difficulty obtaining certain pieces and they have no intention of doing anything about it.

Doing something about it (like increasing supply) would be a short-sighted thing to do and Rolex isn't in the business of doing short-sighted things.

Interesting. I called an AD in Las Vegas to order a moonphase and the dealer said Rolex is not allowing them to place any orders. I never seen anyone wearing the MP and thought they were going to be stoked to sell me one. I have purchased from them before too.it seems they are short on more than just SS models.

Maintaining currently supply does not mean that they don't care. They look long-term rather than short-term.

Rolex doesn't have a supply problem. There is nothing for them to fix. They build as many watches as they want to sell and could sell them many times over. That's not a problem for Rolex. That's how to run a successful and profitable business.

Rolex knows what they're doing. Having a problem with demand is always a good thing for business.
At the end of the day, it's just a freaking watch. It's funny to see people arguing and become so obsessed over it with wait list, increase price, etc. |

This was such a good video. One of Adrian's best. Hope he doesn't catch heat from Rolex over it.

The company is so monomaniacally secretive that even though nothing he revealed is Area-51 level top secret news, it’s still more than they’d choose to reveal publicly.

I do not understand how people think Rolex is purposely not building SS watches. Daytona has always been low volume, that is one exception. Another is example is slowing down production for a watch that will be revamped (such as Sub?) Bottom line, the demand is through the roof, and I am sure the Rolex factory has everything planned out perfectly, but there is only so much they can do. They are probably at full capacity in the factory, and shipping whatever they can as quickly as they can. At the same time they do not want every Tom, Dick and Harry walking around with a 116500, so they won't ramp up production and replace their capacity with a slower seller. They just don't work that way. At the same time they can't compromise their quality by rushing out production as there might be QC issues etc. Our "beef" should be with the AD's selling to grays via back door sales. Not saying they all do it, but it does happen. |

Why should Rolex care about a bunch of whiners and crybabies on a watch forum who can't buy their coveted SS sport watches? As the title says they don't care. They march to the beat of their own drum.

SS watches are going out the back door to greys, bundled with a load of undesirable pieces the AD struggles to sell. This is the real issue. Just one look at the grey market confirms it.

Good for them, I think that’s a smart decision by the crown w regards to the issue of production. Would be nice if they did something about the gray market even if it’s a small % of “rotten” ADs Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Good news. That tells me Rolex is running a very successful and smart business in which they have their heart set on the long term success of the brand rather than the random noise.

There is no shortage of stainless steel. This was addressed in the sixth quarter of the Ninth Three-Year Plan. Rolex is, and has always been, at war with EastAsia

As much as I want to complain about SS supply from Rolex, I was more intrigued by the explorer exhibit! I have been wondering for a while when they are gonna update the explorer line. Do we really think that rolex is gonna do something new to the explorer 2? Please god make them 40mm

Can you point me to the part of the video where the head of Rolex UK says these things on video? I may have missed it.

So jumpy. I was actually asking as I thought I missed it due to people happy about the video. I thought something might have been redacted.

Would someone who worked at Rolex admit to constraining supply if they were? No.
Besides there are so many conflicting posts on I know someone at Rolex who said this and often they conflict. I heard Eric Ku say his sources are holding back supply. Who I’m I to believe?

For the record. Never apologise when quoting any of my posts and assuming it was sarcasm.. 99.9% of the time it is. You caught me in a rare moment of seriousness.
