1971 GMT 1675 Pepsi advice

Hi Folks
I have an option on the following , just not sure about the dial
it has the papers - serial number dates to 1971 ( serial no 286***3)
Bill sale is May 73

The little knowledge I know of this era I cant find any with just the swiss marking at 6 o clock . I would really appreciate thoughts from my friends with much more knowledge than I .

Pictures not great I know , more coming

Many thanks in advance

Service dial and the jubilee is probably not original to the watch as the endlinks are something-55 (usually the GMT endlinks end in something-50). But most importantly, is look kinda beat-up, brother.

Thick case, functional luminova dial with printed markers (even a rarer combo in my opinion)...sign me up....

Bracelet has seen better days tho...

Curious as to what everyone thinks about service dials that look vintage but have luminova plots on them...I personally love them.

That doesn’t look like a 1971 GMT case to me,Those Crown Guards look like 16760 fat lady style.

Bezel looks off. Maybe from a Sea Dweller?

Springer will come along soon and set us all straight...

My only comment will be ... bargain basement shopping leaves you with bargain basement watches. Seems to be the trend lately.

Agree! A lot of bargain watches are hard to price too - usually the value will be much lower then someone thinks, comparing to top line "A" examples. Whereas a good example of this watch might bring 15-20k, a bargain example is worth what, 6-8k USD?

Unfortunately, it will be difficult to get in the game at that price. That doesn't mean you should quit looking. Things are pretty crazy now . I keep an eye on things constantly because you never know.

Here's a Matte service dial comp sort of . I like this site, prices seem decent and they have a good rep.

That price seems in the ballpark too-- it's possible you could get the case polished out some-- from an operational standpoint- if you have checked it on a timegrapher or know it's running solid- this watch will last forever. From an investment standpoint, it will probably at least hold its own. the examples that you see the big numbers for are usually historically perfect. Was the bracelet correct? If not, that price actually might be a little high for that condition.

The "E" date code on the bracelet is 1980. The "555" endlinks aren't "correct", it should be 550 I believe.... so somewhere along the way the bracelet got switched up. the 555 is for the Datejust-- and it fits slightly differently although it still works. .. if your budget is low around $6k, you won't find too many options-- it comes down to a matter of taste with what you give and take. A correct replacement bracelet pushes $1500-2000.... does the bracelet fit? Others here should be able to give more of an opinion on the watch head.

this watch is worth the sum of it's genuine Rolex parts, the service dial, the ropey jubilee and the movement don't make this a 6k watch.

The case is fake. Walk away!!

As others have commented, the shape of the crown guards don't look quite right to me.

I beg to differ and feel the lugs and crown guards are fine for its age.
You could replace the bracelet but it wouldn't bother me
I think its great if you can get it for a low price

I remember these were under $k all day long but with demand at all time highs- doubt we'll ever see prices that low ever again

As an example / information....to compare.....band, clasp and case of a 1675 GMT Master.
My 41 year old 1978 GMT as 1st owner, never parts changed (even not plastic glass, inlay, etc.); full set of box / doc, purch. inv. and never polished.....daily worn from 1978-2010....

So, based on your expert advice, do you disagree with others and believe the case is genuine or just the case engravings having been redone or there are no case issues at all?
