Stone/Wood/Stone - The Wild Bunch (& some faux expertise)

A bright and sunny 66° bluebird day in NorCal, I thought I’d share this lapis/walnut burl/tiger-eye trio. I think it’s great that Rolex, a tradition-obsessed company, has so often indulged in this sort of craziness with the Day-Date, their most traditional watch.

BTW, I was at a dinner for 18 Friday night, at which one pompous, self-important gent (wearing a lovely Sky-Dweller) “schooled” us all that Rolex had never made, and - he certainly hoped - would never make, “any such gauche and gaudy nonsense as a cat’s-eye President,” and he wanted to make sure I knew it was “100% phony.” It wouldn’t have been half so amusing, were it not for his whole ‘Sorry/not sorry that you must be such a gullible fool’ attitude.

A quick google search would put this guy in his place.

AND, even if he really did think it was fake, what kind of ass calls someone out in front of a group of people??

It was a dinner for donors to a local small charity, not friends.

And, there are an irreducible number of human prolapsed rectums* walking this Earth, we can only choose to either laugh or seethe. Laughing is better.

I would have replied “perhaps you should further research that to learn how erroneous you are”.
Then would have told him, “after you are done, research “decorum”.”
