After a exhaustive search across the US, I'm finally a blessed and privileged owner of a PO LM LE. I have to believe it was the very last BNIB sold here in the US. Just delivered yesterday and it is stunning in person.

Awesome. Happy for you, SM20. I looked and looked but couldn't find one...ended up buying one from the UK that worked out well in the end.

(if you end up purchasing any resizing tools and have a method that works for you, let me know which and what, please...I still am too scared to resize mine)

Yeah, I had to get mine from across the pond as well...

For sizing, here's a good thread you should have a look at. If you get this tool (link shows it from a UK retailer, but they're available here from Otto Frei), be careful: I would recommend getting the extension for it (Frei sells it) which has a longer pin-pushing part (for lack of a better term) which pushes the pin most of the way out. Then you can use needle nose to get it out.

To avoid scratching/gouging the links, you can stick a piece of scotch tape covering the hole and push through it with the pin on the tool. Make sure you've got it centered and steady to avoid gouging it as you put the pin pusher in, once you get it in also be careful to keep it straight to avoid breaking the pin pusher needle.

Once it's almost all the way out, pull out gently with needle nose, and be careful as the little sleeves like to fall out and disappear, so I'd recommend doing this on a large white towel or something that'll catch it and make it easy to find when it invariably falls out.

Also make note of the little direction arrows on the back side of the link, the pin should go out (and back in) in that direction. To push it back in, I find a smooth surface that's somewhat hard (marble works well), put a towel on it so you don't scratch, and gently push the pin back in, taking care to have everything aligned (don't forget the sleeve!) so it doesn't catch between the link portions. I again put the tape on there to avoid any scratches.

One other thing: it's better to have at least one more link on the 12:00 side of the watch than on the 6:00 side; this helps prevent the watch from sliding down to the bottom of your wrist when you hold it sideways (sounds counterintuitive as you'd think having more links on that side would make the problem worse by adding more weight, but it does work as advertised).

Also see the sticky thread "making it fit: the bracelet" in this forum (near the top of posts) for some good photos.

Here's a video I found of a guy doing it on youtube (different brand of tool, this one has a shorter pin pusher so you'll need to do more pulling to get pin out): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcr80CwJrC4

And, if you don't mind some rather salty language and dry British humor, here's a funny but informative video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npMkuZa4fD4

do any of you have the original PO and this LM LE one, why is the AR so different, I get the blue hue on original and it's more AR than the LM, did they change anything for this one, they're both AR on both sides, but big light really shows on the LM and not on the original one?

Thanks for pointing that out Ralphie. This is the original LE LM thread and not a marketplace to hawk other models, however nice they may be.

Let me try and explain what I meant...

Under the same light bulb.
THE LM LE

and no matter what angle I put the original one, this is the only light reflection I could get of it.
THE ORIGINAL 2500

Now is this because it's not true and the LM doesn't have double sided AR like it claims, like the original 2500 or is it because this is the nature of the shiny dial on the LM?

Can someone please let me know if I'm going mad, or try that with their own one, or is that normal for the LiquidMetal LE?

Thanks

The PO LM LE does in fact have double AR. The reflection is from the polished, black ceramic dial.

Thanks Fr John, but it's not blue like the original one, and is there not a slim chance this one hasn't got it on as I see a blue shrunken over head light on PO, but not shrunken blue on the LM PO? Is that purely because of the dial?

The "blue hue" is gone from the new POs. I'm wearing my PO LM LE today and the dial is reflecting the sky and clouds. The crystal is invisible.

Hi again. Would you call the LM a new PO though. I thought end of 2009/10 when this came out the blue was still there? But, even if the blue had stopped, seeing the doubled image of the shrunken light bulb should be the same as the old 2500. I thought? Or am I a mile off?

I've got both a Planet Ocean 2500 and the LM LE, and the antireflective coating on the LM is clearly not as bluish as the one on the other PO. You can see this by getting close to a fluorescent light or other very white light type background and tilting the watches at a 90° or so angle to keep the reflection from the LM LEs dial from overpowering the reflection from its crystal; you will see that neither of them exhibits anymore reflectivity than the other off of the crystal, but on the "regular "PO, it is blue, while on the LM LE it is much less so.

The problem is that reflectivity off of the dial is so strong, it's tricky to tilt it at an angle where you can see it, because a few degrees difference in the tilt and the reflection from the dial will completely overpower the reflection off the crystal, if that makes sense.

Has anyone else noticed that the bottom of the second hand is also coated with superluminova in the same location as it is on top? I was just playing around with mine and was charging up the lume w/a mini-mag light, and as I was doing so I could see that the bottom arrow tip of the hand was reflecting white off the dial, and when I removed the light I could see it glowing, albeit faintly....so I sort of tracked it around the dial with the light, trying to angle it so that it was getting as much reflected light as it could, then went into a dark room, and sure enough, you could see the reflection of the glowing bottom of the arrow tip in the dial, pretty cool!

Actually if you look thru the thread you can descern it on certain macro shots in the reflection of the dial. If I had a good camera I'd take one of the lume, but not much of a shutterbug...
