You know I thought that might be the case but wasn’t sure.

Very nice, and usually not that easy to get. Fiberglass really does a great job with Cordovan boots.

Congrats, nice color!!

Yeah, limited and they go quick. I thought about trying a few times but by then I already had more cordovan boots than I need. But somehow it’s still rather tempting.

I have a suspicion many of us have more shoes/boots than we shell ever need.

Sorry but John Lobb even Ready To Wear is never just off the sales rack even when on sale. The term just doesn’t seem to fit given what you still probably paid and what you got.

I felt that exact same way every time I went to another level. No wonder it was easier to go up the ladder. I just never looked back. Aldens were fabulous after AE, but never quite the same after Crockett and Jones. Sure I would buy something from Viberg or Rancourt after Edward Green but in those cases they were a different type of shoe or boot but still pretty much at the top of what they do. The same kevel of detail and finishing just can't be found when you go down the ladder.

Totally agree, I was an Alden fan 100% until I got my first Crockett and Jones double Monk , I still like Alden and have 3 pairs (LWB,LHS and tassels) but JL and EG are on another level.

I still think Alden makes the best Shell Cordovan LWB though.

You can get better from Edward Green but it would cost you a bit more to do so. The thing is the color of the shell throughout would be better and so would other details as well. It's just you would be paying quite a big premium to do so.

My dad had a few hundred dollars worth of gift cards from Nordstrom and decided to finally buy a pair of nice dress shoes. I told him to look into Allen Edmonds (probably the best brand that Nordstrom carries) and explained that they were good year welted and made in the USA. Many models are also on sale right now because Nordstrom is having a big sale.

I thought he’d go for them..... but he bought some Mezlans. I told him to reconsider and that the shoes he bought (which actually cost more than many of the AE models on sale right now) are going to fall apart in a year and he won’t even be able to repair them, but no dice.

What did I say the other day, Dan? You can lead a horse to water..... Sigh...

So EG has these in stock in my size:

Also priced a bit less than the other Galways. Not sure why.

Almost ordered them. Had them in my cart, but I think I want something a bit darker. New colors are supposed to be here around the middle or end of this month.

But I think I want something a bit darker. Afraid these might be too light

I also want to add that this is the right kind of peer pressure.

Damn it. Don't put ideas in my head!

I could just order them and then return them if I don't like them....

Edit : I had to step away from my computer. Going to wait a few weeks and hopefully find a slightly darker brown version.
