now, it's a list that has been closed off, even with the newer caliber reference

i am just lucky i got my 1815 chrono at below 48k usd on the preowned market. lol
They were as low as 35K without the scale on the used market just a few years ago.

The clasp alone, did just cost 7600. Who knows what it is now after the 3/20 price increase.

Plus, the legibility on the Patek is a big issue. The hands disappear into the black lacquer dial, and you need light to reflect off them in low light to read. The 5370 has a matte dial, which gives much better contrast to the hands and the time hands are lumed for even better contrast. From a useability standpoint, the 5370 is a much more practical watch.

Am I going mad, or has the Saxonia Outsize Date been discontinued / disappeared from the Lange website? A member of staff in the Bond Street boutique said they would discontinue the black dial versions at some point, but it seems they have all gone?

They're still available. 381.026, 029, 031, and 032 are all current models.

To answer my own question, it looks like it is discontinued. Found a link to the product page via Google and it says for all the Saxonia Outsize Date references "This reference is not part of our current collection".

Apparently not - see here: https://www.alange-soehne.com/gb-en/...a-outsize-date

Interesting to see the .043 and 0.41 silver dial variants shown (the latter with a hot blue strap!) which were apparently introduced in 2020, but also seemingly discontinued.

Yes, correct. I apologize for saying these were still in production. Lange doesn't always update its website in a timely manner, and these discontinuations were done quietly and recently. They just published an updated price list with these models listed on them a few months ago. Thank you for setting the record straight.
