Miss the window???

02 is drinking beautifully right now, and premium producers like Lewis should let an unsung-sleeper vintage like 02 shine for many more years to come!!

Really good producer Kevin and fine vintage. That bottles fruit is grown on a lot that is in close proximity to some of the finest Burgundy vines on the planet!!

Be ready! That’s what weekends look like here!
I’m a bit jealous that you can do that on a Wednesday!

Beautiful lineup Roger. How was the Quintessa? I’ve been tempted to buy some but haven’t done so yet. Have a happy birthday, my friend!

Thanks my friend. Much appreciated!!

Quintessa is GREAT juice. I highly recommend it. I’d decant or just let it breathe for 45 mins or so — a very silky smooth, seamless wine.

One of my favorites.

Simply...The Wine Thread

We were in Napa a couple weeks ago and did a tour and visited a couple other wineries on our own. Great time and the weather was a bit cooler than usual in late August. Here are a couple pictures from our journey.

Tres Sabores winery. Small case production. Met the owner and her partner. She was one of the original people from Frogs Leap if I understood correctly. Started this as her retirement/passion project.

Madrigal Family Winery. Another small production family owned winery. Great merlot and cab. Owner lives in a small house on the property and they let us out in the vines to taste and wander.

Tamber Bey. A winery/horse farm combo property way up on the north side of the valley. Beautiful grounds at the foothills of the mountains.

Clos Pegas. Greek inspired buildings with a really kick ass wine cave system. Not our favorite wines but they did have a Malbec that we enjoyed.

Last one on the tour was Benessere. An Italian small production wine. Owned by a couple out of Chicago. Neat place but would t go out of my way to go back.

We also visited Clos du Val and had a case shipped home. Interesting story here. They were a much larger case production winery and recently went back to the quality over quantity and it shows, big time. Incredible wines and they were in the middle of a multi million dollar renovation of their tasting room and facilities. We will go back here.

Flew in/out of Oakland direct from Indianapolis. Stayed at the Marriott in Napa Valley. Overall a great trip. Did head up to Sonoma for a quick trip but didn’t really do much outside of park downtown and walk the square.

The middle 4 vineyards were visited via a Platypus tour. Highly recommended if you don’t want to do a private tour as for $110 plus the tasting fees (which were all waived as we bought the wines) it was well worth it.

It was. We had never been to California until last April when we went to Laguna Beach. This part of Cali was very nice. From what I hear it is usually really hot up here and I do t think that is the case in SoCal ??? I prefer the cooler weather.
