Don't know why the admins thought it would be wise to take down open discussion about the events this weekend.

Anyway, apparently Stefano Dimenicalli spoke too soon when he said the F1 weekend would proceed. The drivers threatened a boycott and meetings went deep into the morning with this regard to avert a cancellation of the weekend. It looks like the drivers have been placated, for the time being. If more attacks happen, who knows?

(Deep sigh)

Remember the F1 race where there were two tire manufacturers, cars with ??? tires went out, did a 'lap' and called it quits. We need a repeat, yet the entire field does it this time.

We Race As One

Do a formation lap guys, then pull into the pits and call it a day.

I think that may have been one of the US GP’s at Indy…

But no, that isn’t going to happen. F2 race now coming to an end - been some great racing throughout the field.

The weekend will progress as planned unless force majeure ensues.

That was the 2005 race at Indy. Tires were blowing out in either practice or qualifying due to the sidewall of the Michelin tires not being able to handle the loads on the banking portion of the track, none more severe than Ralf Schumacher's shunt into the wall.

As a result, all the teams running Michelins did the formation lap and then parked their cars where the 3 Bridgestone team runners continued on with 6 cars on track.

Getting back to this weekend's events.... there's some ominous rumblings that are getting out that are no longer rumors and are being reported by BBC Sport about "the consequences of not racing" and not being able to leave the Kingdom.... DTS will have a field day with this weekend.

I think we all are ethical here on this TRF thread. We may differ on beliefs, financial and political influences where they meet the intersection of ethics.

IMHO…
What we ought to leave by the wayside, since it’s not allowed on TRF, is belaboring how we apply our personal political beliefs on conflict zones to the sport itself. It’s just sermonizing and unhelpful to general enjoyment of discussing the sport itself and the spirited driving we enjoy.

I’d rather discuss track limits.

To that end, I encourage Watching F3 & F2 where there is more on the line than just money. Today’s race was a thrill ride.

To perform well and win at those levels means vying for a seat in the upper division of single seaters. This youngsters have a desire we seldom see.

For example, I’ve watched young Hunter Yeany USA make his way up the ladder in SCCA F4 & Formula Regional rungs - and is now in the FIA F3 series.

In the UK it’s Sky Sports who do the F1. They televise all the races from each weekend.

I’m sure they share/sell their feed.

That’s where I watch F2 & F3.
No F3 in Jeddah this weekend.

Tomorrow at 9:30am EDT for F2 feature race - sometimes ESPN3 might carry an important weekend event for these juniors.

I’m only recommending it for the F purists - these are spec cars with academy and scholarship drivers. It’s skill at its best. You’ll recognize and appreciate who is clueful.

Here. You probably missed the point - it was the jury decision which decided the title, neither the car nor the driver (and specifically not VER).

If you still have doubts - look where he is vs the youngster RUS claimed to eat HAM on the breakfast.

I disagree.

It was a contested title from the beginning of the season.

Every Hamilton fan is pointing only to the last race.

He was outperformed all season.

And then they all wanna say it’s him, not the car.

Well, so far this year the car is shite. And where is he? He was lucky in Bahrain. Both Red Bulls, and Gasly suffered DNFs.

We will see as the season progresses.

I know it is painful that the only title of VER so far was “won” at the green table. And I know haters cannot stand the fact that HAM dared to keep the inside untill the very end in Silverstone. Although stupidly and recklessly provoked by VER on the outside.

Let’s discuss again once VER wins 7 titles without the scandalous judges’ decision. Which could be like in 7 years’ at the earliest.

How about you wait skippy until he at least gets his fourth. So much talent out there and really he doesn't have the technique of consistency that lends a hand to being the top guy at the end of a season. Maybe if he grows up and learns to stay in a race rather than a "crash or go home" mentality he MAYBE wins a few.

Certainly looked like the youngsters ate Hamilton alive today. His teammate is 10 spots ahead. Verstappen won 10 races last year, Hamilton won 8. Even if you took out Abu Dhabi, he was still down on races. Your jury title decision is clearly uninformed and out of touch. The car (ver) was good enough to beat Hamilton by at least 1 race (not counting Abu Dhabi)… so maybe it’s a little bit about the car/driver.

Don’t know where you got that idea.

It wasn’t a jury. The Race Director misapplied the rules of restarts. MB Protested twice, lost both, and then did not Appeal afterward.

Correction - the Race Director. I’m so sorry for this terrible mistake. Biggest steal in F1 in XXI century.

This didn't age well.

In Hamilton's defense, he's an above average driver and expect this will not happen again in the future.

Very 'appy for Checo. I certainly thought that lap by LEC was untouchable, but Checo really went for it and was rewarded and brought a smile to my face for a really good guy in F1.

Aside from that, Mick being okay is the really good news but understand he will not race tomorrow and HAAS will only field 1 car.

That top 4 with Max at the tail end and a long way to T1 is going to be incredible!

The number of wins means nothing.

The number of points means everything.

Championships can be won by drivers who didn’t win a race.

In F1 Mike Hawthorn and Keke Rosberg both won with only one race win.

There is no excuse for bad decisions at the highest level in this so called professional sport.

40-60 year old References hardly make a point in modern f1. The season was so much more than 1 terrible decision.

2 terrible decisions. Spa was a complete farce with just a handful of laps behind SC just so F1 could count it.

Quite a few 2, 3, 4 etc.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...s%27_Champions

I don’t understand how at this level of professionalism and the multi-millions of dollars involved a driver can be 54 seconds behind the leader with 7 laps to go - continue to fall behind the leader at one second/lap after the race restarts but end up in 4th place only about 8 seconds behind?

The stats will show this for years to come but the truth is that he should have finished about 65 seconds behind the winner.

But it’s all about the excitement.
