Overseas prices for the 4500v blue dial and 5500v black dial and blue dial have actually increased in prices quite dramatically here in Hong Kong, especially the 5500v black dial, not sure why that is

No doubt the demand is still up, but those who want to buy, won't buy it on grey market, this is what I said. My AD said to me recently that their waitlist is over 3-5 years if someone new want to buy one, but these people won't pay grey, and seeing how hard to sell is just a very different view..
The dealer who sold mine told me that other watches such Royal Oak grey interest also dropped dramatically, which I would have thought is less likely, but it is still the case..

If the grey market for blue dials have fallen that much, and the grey/secondary dealers are willing to negotiate, then there really isn't a reason to go AD unless you want a fully gold perpetual or something.

I'm not, and probably will never be, in that market, so I don't care about relationship building.

BTW, I have not been treated well by the VC ADs and boutique reps, so frankly, screw them.

I got a call to get a 4500V blue dial from the boutique; although I like to keep watches for myself I would be worried if the watch dips below retail or if I cant break even if I want to liquidate. I am not sure what to do pull the trigger or hold

And here lies the inflection point where a subsect of buyers on the list start to question whether they still want to buy the watch.

Interesting indeed. If I were offered a blue 4500V at retail I would buy a second and sell the beat up one in a couple years.

It will be interesting to see how long VC will produce SS Overseas. Patek already switched to White Gold on the Nautilus and given that VC cannot increase production it wouldn’t surprise me if they follow at some point. A recent conversation with an AD also went in this direction.

The question is how long VC will produce SS Overseas. Patek already switched to WG and given that they cannot increase production it would make sense at some point. A recent conversation with an AD also went in this direction (not to day he has any insider information).

It is already below retail so hopefully this informs your decision making.

Sounds like you don't actually want the watch, so I would pass.

If you like the watch buy it, if you are buying for resale don't buy it.

For many years until 2018 pretty much any watch you bought and wore (except maybe a SS Daytona) would be worth less than what you paid for it new. There is no reason to think this will be the case again in a few years, and if resale value if your concern then you will be stuck with a bunch of watches you bought based on hype.

Anyone else surprised that VC doesn't seem to have the price increase button stuck like some other manufacturers recently? It feels like AP/PP/Lange have all had multiple price increase while VC hasn't (at least for my region and the models that I follow)... and VC isn't the only one with falling secondary market prices.

It actually depends on the models. They increased the price for the Titanium Overseas Tourbillon from EUR 157k (as of last year’s introduction) to a whopping EUR 205k. That‘s just insane.

Ouch, that is a massive jump. I'll admit that model is out of my league and I don't really follow it.

Can anyone post examples of the blue dial 4500v selling below retail recently?

I’m a buyer for a blue dial v4500 at retail, if anyone wants to reach out or point me to one please.

I saw a naked blue 4500V listed for $21,500.

When I looked at the 4300v in 2020 it was high 80s I believe. Now it is ~100 USD.

Blue full kits have not been selling below MSRP for quite a while, and the value of the Blue will hold the best as it is boutique exclusive so there will not be discounts at retail.

That’s below retail, but I wouldn’t touch it without warranty or from a reputable dealer.

100% I wouldn't do it.

I honestly wouldn't pay $10,000 for it without papers and a box but I would buy another at retail from AD today if offered.

Was at my boutique on the weekend and the lovely sales assistant hinted (stopping just short of making it abundantly clear) that they are expecting a “significant increase” in the Overseas models in the coming weeks/months. She admitted to being surprised herself that the new 34.5mm steel Overseas is priced higher than its bigger and much more famous older brother the 4500V and when she enquired she was told that this situation would be “updated soon” to “remove quite a few people from the waiting lists.” Her words not mine.

Obviously things can always change but were I a betting man I’d place money on a sharp increase in certain heavily demanded models in the near future.

Exactly what I heard too. Especially as the smaller Overseas don’t have the Geneva Seal. CHF25,000 plus is the price of the 4500V they think it should have. If the go straight there or in two steps is the only question.
