Thank you very much, they are absolutely gorgeous. Many, many congratulations.

For the majority and the best of my shoes and boots no gradual break-in was ever required. In fact that was one of the perks of getting better footwear.

Oh well...

I was advised to wear these a bit inside to break them in. Bespoke pairs, I was told, fit pretty snugly as they're cut fairly close to the foot. Some gentle wearing to start wouldn't hurt.

Even sneakers - to me - are a bit stiff out of the box.

I"ll wear mine for about 30 to 45 minutes for about three to four days inside. This has more to do with breaking in the sole a bit and the vamp of the shoe. Typically mine are snug as well, however the quality of the leather and the way they are made I've never had issues with the blisters or other things one typically experiences with cheaper shoes or boots.

Ah. Thats basically what I have done. now that I have been working from home, its even easier to do an indoor break in.

Agree. Never any blisters with bespoke.

I recall breaking in my Churches Wingtips a number of years ago. My heels were raw...and i had to size up to get more width!

Yeah, I probably could have stated it better during my first response. I don't own any Churches but the only ones that really required any break in when it comes to blisters and such were my Redwing Boots and those were a bear. Nowhere near even Top Tier league but even my Carminas, Rancourts or Vibergs never caused me any issues.

There are so many shades of browns, but a bit of antiqueing such as Edward Green or G&G makes all the difference. I know some who do that on their own but for some reason I've never been brave enough to try it on my own. Besides pretty sure I never would be able to carry it off.

Agreed.

I have a pair of RTW Acorn-colored double monks. I might try to darken just the toe caps...see how it goes.

I know when I frequented Styleforum back in the day there were a good number who used do that. If you do I'd be interested to see how it goes.

I removed the packaging for the picture. I normally keep them as they came, packaged with the stuffed toes. Do you really think I should purchase the trees?

TIA

@DonRickles yes you should get shoe trees...I'm a firm believer it helps keep some creasing off the leather. The cedar ones are the best, they absorb any moisture and keep any funky smells away.

I put my trees in a few minutes after I take them off when I get home. My feet sweat a lot during a 10 hour day, so I'm glad to have a tree to absorb the water and put the shoe back into it's shape.

You can score cedar trees (very) easily at a thrift shop/ Goodwill for great prices.
It seems like people give those away all the time...it's strange.

^This and the fact that good pair quality shoes are worth the small investment of a good pair of cedar shoe trees and how long they can extend how nice your shoes will look and not smell. Oh yes, if it were mine I would. I also purchased shoes bags for the very few of mine that did not come with those either. I use those even for those I put back in the box. My shoes and boots will look nice and work well for a very very long time.

Just finished conditioning a good number of them with Bick4 the other day.

Will let you know.

I need to look at a few turorials. I seem to recall needing to use renomat first...then using polish before applying a Saphir mirror gloss layer.

Using renomat is a pretty aggressive form to do this. Not sure I would ever try that myself. I guess I'm just chicken. I do believe their were some who just added a bit of color rather than stripping what was already there first.

Well...i have a mirror gloss on almost all my toe boxes. So regular colored polish with saphir mirrorgloss on top. I think id have to get to the base layer first...but I need to review some online tutorials.

That might be true, although I do vaguely remember some people on Styleforum talking about using other colors without changing the base layer first. Just not sure how much affect one can have without doing so.
