The tough story continues in the airline industry. We could still see more downward pressure yet. Yes, it's tempting to jump in but if the airlines themselves continue to shout this narrative, then I think it's a clear sign to stay away for the time being.

One or more airlines could declare bankruptcy

Then your stock is worthless. One could always buy an airline stock later when there are green shoots. That is not now.

SHOP (I don't own it, getting even more expensive) with the big earnings beat, which should bring tailwinds to companies like FSLY (SHOP's a client) and SE.
Must confess I took my profits earlier today and sold at $1,100 - Been a very enjoyable ride, but like other members here, there is nothing really supporting such a high valuation for now. Will re-enter if the valuation drops by 20%.

FSLY was up 4%+ earlier, but this one is a better buy & hold in the current environment.

I don’t know which airline stocks he has, but holding the strongest of the group would seem wise. On buying today, JETS is my only suggestion if one wants a toe in the water. (Or finger in the air)

The weaker players are likely going under, so don’t pay anything above break-up value if you’re speculating there (not wise, but some might).

I have no airline stocks. I think he had said in his response that if the airlines go bankrupt, then they would be worthless.

I don't intend to buy airlines until there's a clear path to a vaccine.

Thanks - I thought he was referring to equities you owned.

Understand the use of “your” meant anyone who had airlines - not necessarily the person being quoted.

No worries

Cyclicals are a non-player for me at the moment, outside of DIS.

Very tech heavy until we have a clearer picture of a reopening.

What else could the Fed do? They are boxed in. Zero rates till vaccine. Plus flood the zone buying bonds.

It is not what they could or could not do as much as what they say and HOW they say it.

Remember markets are forward looking and pricing in future possibilities.

From what I've been reading / watching, big tech antitrust hearings today went as well as they could have for FB, GOOGL, etc. Stocks obviously unaffected by all this.

IMHO there are issues that need to be resolved. Sadly legislation is decades behind the speed at which tech moves. These hearings are just so much noise and the companies will continue to go on as most of the world uses the services and products.

I continue to hold AAPL, AMZN for the long term.

Futures down 272 early with big tech earnings on tap.

Happy to see some of my positions doing well today

QCOM and UPS both had stellar earnings, there remain trading holds for me

Will be watching some names today, especially if earnings disappoint and we head into the weekend lower.

Holding through earnings and I'm actually hoping for misses in AMZN and GOOGL to add to my positions there. If they beat, which I do expect, I'll be happy too...win-win.

I don't plan on adding to FB, as I'm happy with my position there and they face more headwinds with weaker leadership compared to the other two, in my opinion.

GDP down -32.9% in Q2

Projections for Q3 leads to optimism in the markets

Everyone do your own homework and make decisions based on your plan and goals.

Looking like a continued weakening of the markets into the weekend and I am beginning to doubt that earnings can rise above the reality of the current crisis.

I am watching and may take profits in some high flying names this morning as I continue to believe we go lower into the fall.

As I indicated before there are too many technical divergences and some of my positions that have bounced on earnings news QCOM and UPS are trading positions for me and I would not hesitate to take profits. Cash can be used later for core positions when AMZN, AAPL and JPM fall farther.

Ended up taking profits from APHA yesterday (after I said I wouldn't) but could jump back in if it tanks a bit more.

Might lighten the load on MSFT as well to get more cash and move over to other big tech but won't make any moves until after this evening's earnings reports.

Down -542 at 10, going to be ugly today and tomorrow

Glad I raised cash to 25% which is unusually high for me

I'm actually opposite in looking to add MSFT today if it drops further below 200. To me they still posted a monster quarter, especially in Azure which is undervalued I think. Their fundamentals super strong for long hold.

I don't disagree - only reason I would do it would be if AMZN and GOOGL tank hard this afternoon; want to get a bit heavier there.

People need to move positions based on many factors. I have sold things that I did not want to sell to raise cash for other things.

I am holding MSFT for the long term and would like to add more but do not think it will drop enough. I would like to do the same for AMZN and AAPL but I have a feeling that my cash will grow as I take more off the table in my trading positions

FSLY and LVGO continues the march upward into earnings next week and aren't showing too many signs of weakness.

Today's AMZN earnings could present major tailwinds / headwinds for SE, so will be monitoring closely.

I've started watching the levels on RTX and BA for a potential entry.

Interesting bounce at noon, not sure what the reason is, not sure I would trust it

Agree, but levels here aren't too bad.
