So we walk up to the women acting as hosts and inquired about procuring a bottle of their their "table wine" The women took it in stride, but were very clear in their reply to clarify that yes, they did have a "second label" called Overture.

Ooops!

The upside is we were able to taste, and they didn't even charge us. And we went home with a bottle of their table wine, which we enjoyed very much
Too funny! What do you remember of it? I have one (Overture) sitting in my serving temp fridge but haven't tried it yet.

We really enjoyed it -- were very pleasantly surprised, but it was two and a half years ago (April 2016).

I know we got a bottle at a restaurant that December based on our experience with the bottle at home and I don't recall enjoying it as much.

For $100/btl I wouldn't buy it again -- the value's just not there IMO. But I'd gladly drink it if someone opened a bottle!

Oh man, I think that's the problem with them not having a vintage for it. You can't gauge what's in the bottle by what type of year the region is having. I know mine's at least a '17 because of when I bought it but it's not a guarantee that it's not anything older. I guess I'll find out when I open it but it'll have to be one of those days where I have a backup just in case. Time to finish up the bottle of the Paring and do some more drywall.

Larry I know you were looking for an inexpensive daily drinker, these are great out of the bottle and $25. . I think I'm going to buy a LOT more of these.
Thanks! I'll check it out! Good Luck with the drywall and painting. I'll PM you... We need to GTG for a few bottles of wine soon!

Yes definitely a GTG, I'll bring one with me if you want me to, we're having a hard time getting them locally but we have a few left. More drywall tomorrow and some spackling, no paint for a few more days. We're raising the height of the shower head tomorrow, friend is a plumber and he's going to expand the copper lines and put in a new valve since we have the walls open right now. Can't wait for this to be all over, I hate showering in the same room as the kids.

Marlborough Pinot Noir Rosé. Delicious melon and peach with lovely floral character. Good summer wine.

That Blueprint comes from a decent production vinyard. I have some Mole Hill from Lail and it was a "party in the mouth", tons of wild blueberry on the nose with hints of allspice with spiced chocolate. I think the Blueprint is supposed to be more ready to go out of the bottle, hope to hear some notes on it whenever you decide to open it.

Texas-style chili

Not our NYE lineup (we're lame on NYE), but had some friends over for dinner last night for some texas-style chili with sweet cornbread.

Love having friends with better wine taste/connections -- they brought the Rivers-Marie, which was wonderful.

I have had it before, just 12-14 though, not 15 so I am excited as 15 was a great vintage. If I remember on the 14 there was a ton of blue fruit and the oak was very light (not your typical Melka style). I will probably open the 15 tomorrow for NYE as I am now curious to see how it stands up!

How was it?

Last older vintage (74) Heitz I opened seemed like it was really on the decline - which hurt my feelings a little —

Hey Roger, it was pretty good. The menthol from the eucalyptus trees was still notable. Fruit had fallen off quite a bit, but it was still the 85 Heitz.
