Good to see this thread is still alive - I have a question as I was considering buying from them. It states on their website - "All watches are shipped to fit the average size wrist (7 1/4" - 7 1/2" for men and 6 1/4" - 6 1/2" for women). Additional links can be purchased if needed." Does anyone know if they sell watches full linked (assuming they were purchased as a fully linked set) or do they always remove links? Having looked at a few watches, they all appeared to have 10 links which I believe is two short. Not convinced or accusing— just inquiring.

Mine came with all factory links installed no extra links in box. I think they can add extra links if you need more than factory.

OP: Determine the correct number of links in a full set, then insist that Bob's promises that a full set of genuine OEM links are present in your "new" watch at the agreed to price...and get their promise in writing. Of course, they may not agree, but then you can make an informed decision. I've always taken this stance on pre-owned watches and have always been successful, though I've never dealt with Bob's.

Bob's Watches
Oh yes. I call it the online watch resale bookie Vigorish. It’s a joke but too easy for them to pass up on. It’s also funny how bob (& others) will sell you watch that needs movement servicing and if you ask about servicing, they make no big deal about it being needed. However, if you’re selling a watch, totally different story & they will knock the offer lower. Same goes for watch age. I bought a 16713 Y serial GMT Root Beer and the incorrect serial letter was advertised (slightly newer) . When I asked about it after arrival, they acted like it wasn’t a big deal. Opposite story when selling them a watch thought. |

Heh!
I had a REALLY bad experience with them regarding their crap service. Very bad attitude and dismissive as all get-out. I wish I could have sued them over it, but whaddya gonna do. Live and learn. I tell everyone to avoid that place. (Yeah, they can sue me too for noting the crap service.) ;-)

I hear you but I honestly cannot believe that of this firm. Why take links? Really makes no sense to me. The profit on the buying and sale of watches is significant for them and pettiness over links could impact that profit.

In searching for watches to buy I kept seeing Bob's pop up with what appeared to be the item for sale. Called and they did not have the watch, it was just a review or something.

Watchbox sells all bracelets sized to fit 7.25" wrist. If they get a larger bracelet, they take links from it. If they get a smaller bracelet, they add links to it. I presume Bob's does something similar.

I was warned about Bob’s years ago, when looking for a used 16610. When I look now, I look elsewhere. In fact, someone steered me to Takuya. Sellers get reputations for a reason, good or bad. Too many trusted sellers here with virtually 100% positive feedback during and after the sale. I can almost guarantee you that at least one of the 3-5 big TRF trusted sellers will always be able to match Bob's pricing. There is no upside and not worth the risk of being shorted links. |

No they don't; lots of bracelets > 7.25"
Quote:
For example: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak: 7.5 inch bracelet https://www.thewatchbox.com/shop/4683801.html 18K WG GMTII: 7.5 inch bracelet https://www.thewatchbox.com/shop/4678496.html 18K YG Daytona: 7.75 inch bracelet https://www.thewatchbox.com/shop/4660106.html Yes, you can find watches with bracelets fitting 7.25, or 7, or even 6 inch wrist. But you can find plenty to fit larger wrists. |

Based on my experience, this is factually erroneous. I purchased a 216570 from WatchBox, and it had all of the factory links with it. It also had about six months of Rolex warranty on it, so, when there was an issue, I sent it back to WatchBox, who sent it back to Rolex, RSC, who fixed it, provided for paperwork, and sent it back to me. An expensive, but an honest seller, in my opinion and experience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
