They are square Nautiluses, they’re priced like Nautiluses, they have automatic movements like Nautiluses, and none of this makes any sense. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if Stern sold Patek to LVMH.

Okay. I was wrong. The leaks were real. I thought they wouldn’t cross share the Nautilus bracelet with the Cubitus. Secondly, TS clearly doesn’t understand what an “entry level” model means. A $40k SS time and date only Cubitus is STEEP. BUT, having seen it side by side with the 5811, there’s a chance I will put a request in for one and see how it goes. Must say I’m immensely disappointed with the pricing. I wasn’t too keen on the 5821/1A, and instead wanted the 5822P with the big date. But at $88k it’s way too steep, for a movement that’s almost similar in appearance as a 5712/1A and does not even come with a solid bracelet.

I will think about it tonight and wake up tomorrow to assess if I want to spend $40k on a SS 5821. The heart says yes, but the brain and wallet says no…. Big decision tomorrow.

One more thing, with regards to the pricing, it appears the Cubitus sits ON TOP of the Patek’s sport model range. That is not what entry level means Mr TS!!

Should the 5811 have a sibling?

They have just been presented on Patek's website, including a nice movie. IMHO: the leaked pictures so far did not do the watches justice at all. The pictures on the website show another beautiful watch collection! Yes, with well known design details but still its own character. Can't wait to see them in the flesh.

Cubitus-latest

35k CHF for the green one in Switzerland. Very unimpressive power reserve of 35-45h. And a declared diameter of 45mm, that sounds quite big.

Power reserve 35 hours min, 45 hours max. Is that not just incredibly lazy by Patek? Surely by now they can fit a movement capable of much better?

Patek is afraid of hacking seconds. Don't expect any quality of life improvements from the brand haha

The 26-330 in it has hacking seconds…

I have the same movement in my 5164A and agree I wish it had a bit more power reserve. Apparently when they upgraded from the 324 -> 26-330, instead of increasing the power reserve, the saved the efficiency gains to drive complications instead.

Lots of negative views of this new lineup. At this price point, I can understand why. So much for the "entry level" option. Nearly twice the price of an Auqunaut.

But I would still wager these will be impossible to get for years to come.

fugly. and not liking it after seeing the video. it’s a worse version of the nautilus

im more dissapointed in the lack of effort vs the design itself

Perhaps I'm missing something, but how did this take years of development? It’s essentially a cloned Nautilus, but with a squared design.

Regarding the release, I feel for the Patek employees involved. I’m sure they worked hard to satisfy the Stern family and maintain Patek's near-perfect reputation, but this one missed the mark by a long shot.

And the pricing.... Just clearly shows how detached from reality the brand is. Not sure what they consider an entry-level client to be, but most would not consider $40k on a basic SS watch as entry pricing.

I'm looking forward to all of the "Incoming..." threads that we will see starting tomorrow. So let me be the first to say congratulations to the VIPs on RF, so that I don't have to do it on all of those threads as well.

I get the idea of evolving away from the 5711 to something else. -Just not a fan of this something else.

Personally, I don't love or hate it. I think the design will grow on me over time. The size is too big IMO and the pricing is off the mark. For what they wanted to bring to market as an entry level sports watch, the pricing is pretty rich for what it is.

Unfortunately, Ben Clymer is correct, as much as we all hate this, Patek has a home run on its hands purely because of the brand value that it has. But, this will dilute the brand over time, IMO.

At this price point, my goodness.

I don't see the "new tradition" angle to this at all. Seriously, $40K and up?

So where is the entry level and/or non-Nautilus, Stern was so keen on mentioning in his interviews?

I actually think it's not too bad, i just wish it was somewhat smaller. It looks quite large on the shots I have seen so far.

Maybe this is TS’s way of killing the sports line to focus on the others - it’s not a bad strategy- make a terrible watch that looks enough like it’s most popular watch so as to kill the image of pp “sports watches” and give it an amusing name that sounds like a gross condition found in nursing homes.

Personally I like it. I don’t care if it’s a derivative of the Nautilius, it looks good. Especially for a square watch, which normally I’m not a fan of.

Price is pretty heavy though. $41k for a time/date watch. Wow

When I look at that pricing my AP 16202 all over sudden feels like a true bargain.
