Yes, three teams would be a nice mix, with Alonso working hard....

Can we resume with the sporting side now and leave the racial and other ad hominem rants off?

Thanks goes to Steve for another chance here.

Maybe you saw this already but the AMG team’s porpoising problems apparently are not due to any rules non-compliance nor recent new scrutineering metrics. The post race inspections met specs for HAM.

I was stunned the other day when I tuned in and saw this thread locked. Thank you to the moderators for giving us that love F1 another chance. I would really miss this one if it stayed locked.

British P2-
Ricciardo again failing to perform being 0.8 seconds down on Norris.
But the gap was similar between Hamilton and Russell so go figure.

The Official Formula One Thread!

Watching the W Series live in USA on ESPN U as I type.

Spitting rain on half the circuit, dry on the remainder. Portends tricky conditions for F1 Qually…

Comes up at 10am EDT on East Coast USA. (Or just over an hour from this post).

I agree about RIC underperformance v. NOR - in the circus, if you can’t be on the podium then you’re expected to outperform your teammate (even if racing bouncy balls)

Eddy Jordan reckons RIC is treading very, very thin ice, with McClaren.

Yesterday morning I finally succumbed to subscribing to Sky Sports, within 18 hours I have seen England get stuffed at Rugby and set themselves up to lose against India at cricket (although watching Rishabh Pant bat for India was a pure joy). I am really looking forward to the Grand Prix and qualifying.

The Official Formula One Thread!

F3 feature race is live now, F2 feature race will be live in about an hour.

Future F1 stars are having a great race - LEC is in the lead (Charles’ younger brother, Arthur).

SAR - Logan Sargeant USA is on the pole for F2 race live now. First time ever for an American in F2.

[edit] SAR won it. First USA driver to win a F2 race. Flag to flag even with a safety car restart.

Not saying “Andretti” yet, but a good candidate to step into a Williams car in F1…maybe soon if ALB or LAT move up to a stronger team.

Life saving halo moment also occurred early in F2 race:

Commentary about sausage kerb aside, this incident invoked some review by the Stewards.

The Official Formula One Thread!

Once the car couldn’t restart after he returned to it, then he’d be out.

Despite his heroic sprint to ZHO the car let him down.

Sad but that’s part of the consequences of heavy contact.

Ahhh, yes and agree. I felt he could have restarted it via KERS.

What an awesome race, thought LH had it in the pocket but a well deserved win for Sainz.

Wondering what Binotto said waving his finger at Lec

Worryingly, but unsurprisingly, the HALO appears to have partially collapsed.

Yes from the picture the appearance of a collapse would be a reasonable conclusion…however…

The halo had to be dislodged/deformed by the extrication team using the tool while they were trying to get ZHO out safely. Thankfully, it held up throughout the incident.

Looking at the pics and knowing he came out fairly unscathed id say it did it’s job.

I know of quite a few things that are supposed to collapse but still protect people.
