I'm new to the forum, and happy to find a spot where the girls can chat. Just purchased my DJ, and loving it. I've enjoyed reading through the threads, and feel like I know many of you. Jen, I didn't get to read your bra thread, but it sounds like it was fun. A little humor can make a cloudy day shine!

Nancy, after raising your boys you should NEVER have to get up earlier than you want to...

Any friend of yours would have to be a great gal, but she wouldn't put up with the likes of me very long! On mornings when I don't have to get the girls to school, we're still knee-deep in Cheerios, pajamas, unmade beds and soggy diapers at 9 a.m. Then again, that's about how things are at noon, too! And 3 p.m., and 8 p.m., and bedtime....

Oh man. I'm having major flashbacks. I gotta admit, I'm glad those days are behind me............mind you...........there's a more than vague resemblance between your mornings and some of my babysitting times.

Guess what Al bought me yesterday? The iRobot Roomba! I gave him an ultimatum....either you start vacuuming every weekend like you promised, or buy me a Roomba. He burned rubber getting out of the driveway on his way to the store.

Nancy, I will be VERY interested in your report on this thing. My mom in law has a hard time vacuuming with her bum shoulders (one is already replaced and the other will be this summer) and I want to get her one. She's not so sure but she's usually game to try new things. They have a mix of tile, rugs and carpeting. Will ya let us know what you think of your new gadget? I might want one, too.

My lower back hates the vacuuming thing.....(well, I hate vacuuming in general ). So far, this thing is pretty impressive. Al told me this morning that he's emptied 4 cats out of it so far. It does an amazing job in transition from hardwood to carpet, phenomenal work in corners etc. It has a "cliff scan", so when it reaches the top of the stairs that lead to our downstairs family room, it just turns around and goes back the other way. We lucked out with a store that had a sale of $100.00 off. Al did a lot of research on it, and over the past 5 years the manufacturer has managed to work out all the glitches. So far, so good!

Thanks, so nice to meet all of you. Raising a family is a 24 hour job. It's downright exhausting. I'm reminded of that everytime I babysit one of my grandchildren. Always holding down a full time job, how did I ever keep my sanity. The time does pass quickly. Before you know it, they've all moved out, and have families of their own.

Same here, bad back, can't wait for the report.

I missed that completely, Jen! I've only had mine a day and I'm already super impressed. It's wild how it takes itself back to the docking station for recharging!

The ONLY issue I have is that with 2 cats I have to clean out the brushes much more than suggested. But it's no big deal

I thought you were going to say the cats were afraid of it!

Hmm... gets me to wondering... would the baby mess it up? How could I get her not to pick it up or drop it? Maybe it should be taken out during naptime only.....

Yes. But it IS loud...so doing it during naptime might not work. The cats just look at it funny... they're not scared

So what else do you do, Man of Steel? Do your ball-bearings ever need replacing? How about routine maintenance? Once-a-week oiling? I have no idea what I'm talking about.

We have two cats also, and yes.....we have cleaned the brushes a couple times already, but like you said...no big deal...it only takes a few moments. Well worth it!

This morning's conversation with hubby (recovering from surgery):

Me: Would you like me to cut up some apples and carrots for you??

Hubby: You mean, to eat?

Me: No, to stick up your butt!

Hubby: Hmmm, wonder if that would be a good suppository...
