Smoking a nice Dominican corona, need the ash to create 'pipe mud'. A paste/cement which is used to coat & protect the bowl of a pipe.
I have burned my pipe a little too hot last week (Virginia tobacco and a breeze tends to do that) and it slightly damaged the carbon layer inside the bowl, patch it with pipe mud and smoke a few bowls and it's fixed.
