Prefer the old one. Not a fan of the bezel ring.

I think balance is always more important than symmetry when it comes to design.

The new reference sacrificed balance for symmetry and I’m not here for it! That ring is hideous too…

Just my opinion. No judgement of other opinions :)

Oh well. I don’t think there has been an attractive Daytona in decades, so…

I agree with the OP. There is something off about the new Daytona, I can’t tell if it’s the subdials’ location or size or something else, but it doesn’t look right.

I think your on to something, if all the Daytona cases are now the same, it should be easier for them to produce more....

I find the comments in this thread pretty entertaining. In the end, if any of us is offered a new steel Daytona at an AD there is not a single person who would turn it down.

I like the new Daytona and I never even liked any other Daytona reference before, so yes, something is not right!

Simple really.

If you like the newest Rolex in any model then just buy one.

What was that? You can’t buy one???

Agreed. I'm actually liking the 126 the more and more I see it. Maybe one day I'll get to hold one in hand.

And

Agreed

Old one was good, but I never loved it. I think I'll like the new one more. Old one looks unrefined.

The pushers and crown guards look so bloated now. That side by side confirms it further for me.

It looks like it has a prolapse!!!

It really needs the balance that it had previously….

I have two good friends who own a Daytona. Zenith version and the early 2000's version (can't bother digging up the refs, can't remember them).

Always liked and respected the watch but I'm 6'3 and have quite large wrists. Daytona felt way too small on me. It was the smooth bezel and big pushers.

I really wanted them to make it bigger, at least like 42mm.

I hope the new one at least wears a bit bigger. Curious to test it on my wrist anyway.

The case is the biggest mistake IMO. Lost those lucious curves and now looks like a box truck.

This has got to be the biggest Rolex fail I can possibly think of. Rolex took a perfect organic design and purposely ruined every aspect of the iconic Daytona. It’s like they are trying to showcase how much better the 11 series Daytona is/was with a “New Coke” exercise in marketing.

Epic fail with butchering the Daytona line. I am in disbelief Rolex could make so many design screw-ups their most perfect watch.

Oh man that metal edge around the bezel is a huge issue for collecting dings and wear marks. IMO….it adds nothing and becomes a liability.
The biggest “fail” is the beautiful organic case lines have been butchered into a now blocky supercase look? ??
A blocky Daytona?

The 11 series Daytona has now become incredibly special and “THE” SS Daytona.

Have you recovered yet?

Without going back through all the posts ….

Has anyone put calipers to the bezel and case to illustrate differences between the old and new?

How could Rolex destroy their most beautiful Daytona watch? Speachless.

126500 bezel = 38.76 mm
116500 bezel = 38.48 mm

The contour of the solid end link is one of the bigger differences other than pusher side lugs.

It is an ideal watch for the age of online browsing and large macro images.

Thank you for this … I’ve been waiting for someone to make / post these measurements.

I read somewhere …

116500 … 38.88mm
126500 … 39.88mm (+1mm)

Your numbers are obviously closer to being the same for both watches …

I wonder if the 39.88 (12 Series) measurement (by others) is the outside of the steel ring … and yours is measured at the Ceramic Bezel … ?

While you have the calipers out, would you mind measuring / posting for us …

116500
-outside of bezel to outside of bezel
-measurement of the width of the crystal
-measurement of the bracelet width at the lugs
-width of the clasp

126500
-outside of the steel ring to outside of the steel ring
-measurement of the width of the crystal
-measurement of the bracelet width at the lugs
-width of the clasp

Thank you in advance.

They are wrong. This is the full and complete bezel in both cases.

Haven't the Daytona lugs been symmetrical on the precious metal pieces for a while now? Those looked ok didn't they? You wonky steely boys are a funny bunch.
Kidding. I think they're all cool. In fact the most striking thing I see is a slight sharpening of the lug edges. I remember being slightly upset and Can caring less when they did it on the Yachty (a similar cased watch) so I understand.

It thought the case is slightly larger on the new series.
