Meh.... bet I spelled it wrong, anyhow.

Besides, I have to look stuff up all the time before posting, otherwise I'd look like an absolute idiot and no one would talk to me!

I'm SO glad to hear you are headache free now, bud! I'm not at all used to the "non-insanity" we were reading from you yesterday.

Nancy, I hope you guys are getting along okay. So saddened to hear about Al's family. Any updates about his nephew?

Things are looking better, Lisa. Thank you for asking. Al's sister was telling him last night that they are teaching the parents how to do the necessary monitoring etc. and if they feel they can manage it correctly, they might be able to take him home this weekend.

I'm so glad to hear that your wife is well. You are so right....it IS like family here isn't it!

I remember reading that post with the letter to your son. What remarkable words of wisdom. It's wonderful when people are placed in our lives to say just the right things at just the right times.

After traveling in and out of town, meetings, and dealing with a sinus infection, I just crashed last night. Actually had a post ready, and the dang computer restarted itself, and lost my post.

Lot of love going on 'round here. People helping people, brings tears to my eyes. The world could learn a lot, from the 'Coffeeshop'. Sometimes we just need someone to listen.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Catch you later.

Absolutely. I love that saying...."Joys shared are doubled......sorrows shared are halved."

Have a good weekend yourself, Linda!

This just overheard amid much laughter, coming from Phoebe's room:

Leo and you other landscape-savvy guys, I need your help. I was studying our landscape plan this afternoon and was looking up info on the Japanese Yew. Our plan shows 5 of them as a hedge that will be growing in almost complete shade. I looked up the Yew online, and found that it is highly poisonous. Deadly to pets, and "one mouthful can kill a horse or cow." Yikes! So, with a toddler and 5 year old around, I just don't think we can plant any Japanese Yew. I know many plants are toxic, but this one sounds especially dangerous... does anyone have any ideas about an evergreen shrub that might make a good replacement?

Wish I could make some suggestions Lisa, but shrubs are a new thing for me as well. Bet Leo will have some great suggestions, though!

Lisa, Yews are poisonous but usually do not present any danger to animals because they know better than to try and eat it. But I will say that deer love them and will strip the foliage bare. Children usually will not try to eat plants either but as a parent you must tell them to make certain. For an evergreen shrub you can look into varieties of Boxwood(Buxus microphylla or Buxus sempervirens). They make a nice hedge but will grow slower in shade. Is the planting site full shade or partial? Also what variety of yew is he suggesting?

Carol, when my son was in elementary school, I used to volunteer for field trips. I found them to be a lot of fun and I believe my son enjoyed me tagging along. One year we went to an apple orchard. Also when he got a little older 4th and 5th grade I would go into his class and teach about plants, their reproduction and photosynthesis!!!
