Sorry to necro this thread, but wanted to add my experience.
I did a trade with them, sold three decent watches (breitling, tudor, UG) in exchange for a 1675 Rolex. Went really well and liked them. Then I walked in there the other day and the salesman showed me a 5513 that he claimed was one owner, totally original. I took some pics and posted them on the forum, turns out its some kind of frankenwatch. A feet-first supposed gilt dial thing that made no sense and he was falling over himself to get me to buy it on the spot. Now I'm scared my 1675 may not be what they claimed, but I'm hoping that piece is in with the legit deals they do. I think they are just sloppy and don't properly vet pieces they buy and try and pawn them off on tourists who aren't WIS. A quick google search of the reference for some talking points, and who cares if the details aren't totally right, only a handful of customers will ever notice or care (also known as their potential best repeat customers). After reading Pav's debacle, glad I never handed them any money, only some merchandise. My verification post is here: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=355746 I can't say they are always bad, but I've had two dealings with them, one was good assuming I got what they claimed (still being verified) and the second was a misinformed attempt to sell a frankenwatch for some very serious money. What I can say is I'll be staying away even though I liked the salesman I worked with, and you probably should too.

I’m headed to NYC this week and was researching watch shops; glad I found this thread! Now, who can recommend some good window shopping?

AGREE, and THANK YOU OP for bringing this up.
I went in a couple of years ago and attempted to sell a mint condition rolex 16660 sea dweller. The salesperson tried to offer me $3k! Instead of simply saying that the store had to make larger than normal profit margin given the high rent, etc., he tried to convince me that the original list price in the 80's was somehow an indicator of value and that I shouldn't expect much more than what it originally retailed for. WHAAAT? As he continued to essentially lie, I literally turned around and walked out mid-sentence. This place sucks. They lie. Oh yeah, and they are overpriced. |
