Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

A goal without a plan is just a wish.

The pessimist may be right in the long run, but the optimist has a better time during the trip.

Its funny. Many of these sayings seem at odds with one another......some tell us to work arduously, religiously even to achieve in life. The others, to find whats truly important in life, to open your eyes, and love.

One of my silly sayings at work goes something like this......"Work hard while your here, but unless your task will help someone make it through the night who otherwise wouldn't, go home. Make love to your wife, take care of yourself, and partake in the lives of the little gifts God gave you, for it is these moments that will shape the rest of their lives. The next deal can wait."

Good observation. These conflicts are best contemplated and decided while leaning against a tree, fishing pole in hand, with a line in the water waiting for a fish to strike, or not.

Nothing surely is as potent as a law that may not be disobeyed. It has the force of the water drop that hollows the stone. A small dainty task, if it be really daily, will beat the labours of a spasmodic Hercules.--Anthony Trollope

There is no such thing as a self made man. We only reach our goals with the help of others.

A strong passion for any object will ensure success, for the desire of the end will point out the means.

The road leading you to a goal does not seperate you from your destination, it is essentially a part of it.

If—
By Rudyard Kipling

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Some folks are like goldfish. Pretty to look at, but they only have enough brain power to fuel about 10 seconds of memory.

Work as though you don't need the money

“Man can will nothing unless he has first understood that he must count on no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth.”
Sartre
