It's a birth control pill. I used to be admitted to the hospital once a month for those same reasons while in college, so I know just how you feel.

Mireyna is a type of oral contraceptive, but I don't know the details.

What does your OB/Gyn suggest? Can he prescribe a stronger pain med? I used to have awful cramps in my early 20's, and Aleve (naproxin sodium) worked well - it's over the counter. Regular, daily exercise helps me a lot as well.

I do know that a hysterectomy really messes with your hormones. I would imagine you would just go into early menopause!

Well, good luck and let us know how it goes. There has to be something they can do!

If you haven't already done this, Mys - you need a long heart-to-heart talk with your doctor. Hope you have time to do that at your upcoming appointment.

You can have normal paps and endometriosis at the same time. You might try a google search for "treating painful periods" and see what kind of info comes up. Although other things may be causing your pain, endometriosis can cause a lot of pelvic pain, too, especially before and during your periods. (it's also a leading reason for hysterectomy!)

I'm not a doctor either, but I'd sure want to exhaust all kinds of treatment and medication options before undergoing surgery and then dealing with hormone replacement decisions after that. Are you done having kids? Close to menopause? All things you and your doctor should consider and discuss.

Hope you get some answers soon!

Mornin' all. Just sitting here sipping my coffee and reflecting on life. Pretty bummed out for the past couple of days. On Monday morning one of my co-workers just didn't wake up. She was only 38 years old. Sure is a stark reminder of the uncertainties life offers at times.

Sorry to hear that Nancy.

I'm bummed out too...for different reasons.

Had next to no sleep last night, William tumbled out of the bed and hit his head on the floor. He screamed the house down (he'd already been restless due to a nightmare which had him shaking in fear earlier). WE stacked up loads of pillows on the side of the bed and the floor and also put two spare quilts on the floor on his side but over he went and he hit the single square inch of bloody floor that wasn't protected. Better get a sleep rail today!!!!!

Must be in a grotty mood today because right now, outside of my window are two motorcycle policemen doing their weekly licence/tax checks. Pulling people over and issuing £60 spot fines for having slightly worn tyres etc...you'd think they had better things to worry about. For some reason it really irks me today!

It's not dumb, just keep an eye on him. Maybe put in a quick call to the ped - I've done that many times. And don't worry, little kids are tough!

No, I wouldn't worry about the helmet. I'd go for the bed rail tomorrow. And put in a call to triage (or whoever is on call, don't know what time it is there) just for back up advice.

Especially if he has a bump now, the helmet may hurt!

he's okay....no bumps, he hit his forehead, it left a red mark.

We kept him awake as long as we could to see if there were any after effects.

This morning he was fine, his usual nutty self.

Bed rail is a must though....we need one anyway for when he's officially out of his cot and into a bed!

sounds like he is an attention seeking bugger, does that run in your family? Don't worry about a few bumps and bruises they are a part of him growing up. If you are worried about head injuries always check for increased pupil dilation. Bet you were dropped on your head more than once

I didn't know this. Thanks, Martin! I know that my FIL used to check my hubby and brother for this during the teen years, but it for different reasons!
