Had one previously, and always regretted selling it. Just acquired another to replace it

It was this forum that first alerted me to the SD, with remarks that turned out to be spot-on for me.
It's a great watch, probably doesn't need a 'club; as such, it will always stand on its own two feet. Dangerous to say such things, but I'll never sell mine. Some designs are just 'right'. |

I am about to join the SD club next week.
Found a really nice D serial box papers and No holes case from a reputable dealer out in NJ. I do have a question for you guys the release valve on mine seem to look more a of brass color than what I am seeing in some of you guys pics. Do you think its anything to be alarmed about? |

What I do know is the HEV is made of titanium and Rolex uses the highest grade of titanium so I'm not sure why there is any discoloration. It my be a question for someone at the RSC

Killer sea dwellers gents! Thinking about joining the club this weekend. Do the 16600 owers remove the divers extension like for comfort like the SDC and Deep sea owners do?

hi guys
have migrated over here from vintage forum as I have just acquired a 1985 16600 that the previous owner bought new as an investment and it has never been used or out of the box since then. it is complete, including the original bill of sale and all documents, tags etc. I was wondering if having stood unused for all that time if it will need any immediate servicing or will it be good to go. I will post pics shortly, any comments greatly appreciated. It was not cheap but I had to have it, you all know the drill !!!! regards Mike |

The oils in the mvmt will dry off, even without use. You can't seriously damage it by using it now, but there is a very good chance it will lose time. If that's the case you should take it in for a full service. The mvmt is quite popular and can easily be serviced by a good watchmaker (example, grey dealers with repair svc). Rolex would replace the T-dial so you certainly don't want to send it to them! Looking forward to the pics

On a strap 99% since 2013. Works perfectly in sweats and a t shirt and suit. Love this Watch.
