1k budget for shoes and belt; although I would go higher if something really grabs my attention.
These will be worn mostly with cotton khakis and button downs or short sleeve polo shirts. I wear mostly Polo clothes and only wear suits a few times a month.
The EG are beautiful but probably too "dressy" for this look.
The Alden is tempting. I have a pair in color 8 but even these might be a touch dressy. Somehow I missed these in my search.
I am somewhat in between on this one. Want something dressier than a white soled boat shoe but not too dressy...if that makes sense.
I will grind on the Alden a little. I really like the EG but probably a little too much for a shoe I would not wear all that often.
Appreciate the help.
Thanks
If you like your Alden's, and more importantly they fit well, I would lean in that direction.

For a good quality belt you may want to consider Equus. They are hand made in England from full grain leathers. No corrected leather and the customer service and quality is exceptional. http://www.equusleather.co.uk/belts.html

Rocking Alden handsewn loafers in #8 on Grant last from Madison Ave today, along with my Daytona. Both super comfortable. 👍

Surprise incoming. The missus bought these on sale from Bespoke England (125 pounds). Nice chocolate brown suede. She liked the shiny metal bits and the contrasting stitch details. Fortunately, they fit. She's pretty excited.

I have been really enjoying my Marlow tassels and have been thinking of adding a second pair of tassels. I'd like something a bit more casual for the summer.

The Alden tassels in snuff suede seem like a logic choice, but maybe adding a bit of color would be nice?

What do you guys think of these?

I'm not a tassel guy, but I like the color of the first pair. They would be great with a variety of summer colors.

They are like wearing socks. The rubber sole has a nice cushion step as well. The missus did all right on these.

Hey guys, thanks again for the Bick 4 suggestion. That is great stuff. Works on belts and straps too. Nordstrom use to sell a similar product years ago and they discontinued it. Been looking for something versatile like this since. Awesome product.
Cheers!

When I used to wear suits every day and walk/ took the train to work I wore Rockports for dress shoes. They were as comfortable as sneakers.. I could walk for miles in those yet they were dress shoes.

Tried Rockport not too long ago. Insanely, comfortable. Sadly, appears they do not last too long.

A brexit buy from Nick. JL Heath. Advertised as Parisian Brown Museum calf, but actually a very dark brown museum calf. Beautiful shoes, nonetheless.

The Heath's completed my collection of JL shoes. Still waiting on the G&G MTO, which will complete my initial shoe collection plan (yes there is a plan ).

Great addition and a good time to get them as well. Congrats.

So which G&G do you have on the way and on what Last if you don't mind me asking?

Monaco loafer in Oak with Dainite sole. And the St James II in vintage cedar and Kudu on the MH71 last, with Wensum sole.

I expect them sometime early next month.

Excellent, Great Choices!! I am kind of surprised with your choices with soles, but I often lean in the same direction whenever possible myself.

I wanted a couple all-weather options (of sorts) No storm welt, but a little more resistance to wet surfaces than a leather sole.

My favorite summer shoe is the Alden unlined suede Flexwelt penny loafer. I've two pair in snuff and one in tan. Alden recrafted the older of the snuffs once but refused a second time, it was so worn out. I have a local guy doing it now.

For the colder seasons, Alden cordovan LHS in #8 (recently recrafted a second time) and also in black (a pair of each ).

Boots? Redwing 953 and Danner Mountain Light II.

The uppers don't look too bad. If your guy can recraft, I wonder why Alden wouldn't. John Lobb told me they can typically recraft 8 times before there's just not enough left to work with.

The image attached above was taken 12 full months ago. Many a dusty trail at Boyce Thompson Arboretum. Desert Botanical Garden. Bicycling along Kelly Drive. Last month when I sent them to Alden the soles were to cork in places. Maybe the welt was damaged, maybe not. I think are so stretched that the original last will not hold the shoe steady. The 9 ½ D is closer to a 10W or 10 ½ W.

Alden politely told me to buy new shoes. Which I had done the last time my beaters were being recrafted.

The repair guy my Alden dealer uses will do a complete leather sole and heel. It is supposed to be under $100, maybe $85. Alden wants $169, which I do not mind paying, because the shoes look factory-done. Maybe Alden declined my job because they could not guarantee the job due to suede stretch.

The cordovans, on the other hand, yes, those I've heard you can recraft over and over.

Wow, you're fast! I also have a plan, but I'm only buying 1-2 pairs per year, I promised myself to only have one pair on order at a time and I mostly buy MTOs.

It's a pretty interesting hobby for me, and the missus likes it much more than watches or diving. Once I found out how not to pay retail for their shoes it made the budget stretch much farther. I think at full price this collection would be about a SubC. As it is, it's probably not even a preowned 5 digit DJ.

The MTO's from G&G cap off the startup plan. I'll be down to one or two pairs a year after they arrive, and then likely limited to MTO's like you.

nothing too fancy or expensive here. I have 7 pair of gucci loafers, a few pair of A Edmonds wing tips, a couple Faragomo's (sp?) and lately I have been buying Todds drivers.

Who manufactures To Boots shoes? His website says he designs them, but doesn't mention where they are made.
