My dad gave me his Rolex while I was working at a grocery store very shortly after graduating college in 1989 when I was about 23. GMT Master 1675/3 from Tiffany & Co.

I got my first Rolex at the age of 30 in 2017.
I've been into watches since I was about 5, but I'd wanted a Rolex ever since I was 14yrs old - One of my first jobs out of school was working in a car dealership. One of the top guys there had a Submariner, and I was absolutely besotted with it. I told myself I'd have one one day. - I had to leave the car trade to get one hahaha - 15yrs later, I eventually got the watch I'd coveted all those years. |

45, Diamond dial DJ for my birthday. Salesperson said, you’ll be back for a sports model now that you’ve been bitten by the Rolex bug. Sure enough, the next year was our 10th wedding anniversary, so I picked up my Sub-date. 10 years later for our 20th, I picked up my white ceramic Daytona. I’d like to buy another soon, but I have one more MSc program to pay for first.

43...as I just picked up my first Rolex last week!
I was on a trip to Tokyo with the family, and went there thinking I'd maybe get a JDM Seiko or Grand Seiko...but then a vintage silver-dialed 1978 Oysterdate Precision caught my attention and wouldn't let go. No papers, no box, no automatic movement even, but it's in fantastic shape and has just the right amount of vintage warmth. The only problem is that my wife may like it even more than me... |

I was 60 when I got my first one. Waited for college educations, graduate schools, and weddings before starting my journey. I now have seven Rolex, two Omega, Cartier, and a couple Breitlings, in addition to others.

30 - My dad passed me a 116509 in 2015. He gave my old brother his yellow gold President and my younger brother a yellow gold Yacht Master. I now have the Daytona and a Submariner 126610LV and am waiting on a 126710BLNR or a 126713GRNR.

Twenty-one years old. My watch was a sub-date purchased for $1,100 ($100 monthly for a year). I didn't know what a Rolex was, but I damaged three watches over the course of of a summer in railroad construction - I went into a watch store for help. The jeweller told me to "buy this one - you will never have an issue with it" - and after he talked me out of a Daytona, I put $100 down. Almost 40 years later, it is still reliably running and is one of my watches in rotation. The tritium has turned a cafe-latte golden brown, and it is still the favourite of my significantly expanded collection.

I was 35 and it was a 114060. I traded it in a few years later and I do regret it now.

Its strange to think that the OP is now 44, 19 years later!!!
Although I cant say anything as I am old and have been a Rolex owner for over a quarter of a century and a enthusiast for 35+ years. I'm pleased to see there is still lots of interest in the subject of Rolex. |
