One last picture and you guys wil finally be relieved of all this landscaping obsession nonsense - I know it must be getting tiresome but it's giving this ol' gal a little thrill, the likes of which have not been had for quite some time!

This is the weeping Blue Atlas Cedar - Sputnik tree, as Dave calls it. Funky!

One of my all-time favourite movies. I can't even guess how many times I've watched it. Still can't stop crying every time I hear "Feed the Birds."

Thanks Lisa, its been a real labour of love. But you know all about that. Your house and garden will look stunning when you're finished. I'll take some photos in the morning , after its had the Saturday clean! My boy, Finn, has just turned 4, that photo is probably from when he was 2, I have that one as my desktop. Luckily he has inherited his mothers good looks, I just hope he has her brains too
Heres a more recent picture of monkey boy!

I love his little wellies. Shame they don't make those in adult sizes. Soon he'll be chatting away to you. They really are the good things in life and though I'm not a wealthy man, I always feel a million dollars when he's around

Leo! I have a patch of pink primrose in our back yard. It's been here since we've moved in 5 years ago, and each spring, they shoot up and produce tons of pink flowers. However, I've been watching that spot for some time now, and have yet to see any green sprouting up.

What could have happened? They have always been so vigorous, and each year that patch has been growing larger. Now, I see not a single stem!

Wow, Lisa, what a beautiful tree. Let's see if your neighbors call it a Charlie Brown tree!!!

Jim, your boy look great, I bet he's fun to have around. Kind of makes life interesting and worth while. Children are a pleasure to have and they are fun to teach and mold. And their personalities really blossom the older they become!!!

Mark, your son looks great and bet you enjoy and treasure your time with him. Spend all the time you can with your little man because they grow up quick.
As for Lisa's weeping Blue Atlas Cedar growing in England, first you will need to find out what your minimum winter temperature range is. For example, I live in the suburbs of Chicago and for our area the minimum temperature range is -20F to -10F. Then you will need to do research as to whether they are available in England. I can do my best to advise you once you start the research!!!

Carol, what was your winter like? Was it dry, was it exceptionally cold for your climate? Did the area stay submerged in water for awhile? Many factors can play a part into why no shoots and no flowers. If you can give me the scientific name to the primrose plant I can research the plant and get back to you!!!

Leo, our winter was pretty average. Not unusually cold or wet. The patch is near our pool equipment, and thus parts may have been exposed to more water than usual (we had pool issues this winter) -- but the parts that didn't get the extra water aren't up yet, either.

Maybe my timing is just off. They usually come up around Easter. But, I just realized that a couple of places in our neighborhood that usually have these flowers are still bare as well.

The name is (I hope this is correct) :
Oenothera speciosa 'Rosea'

I think it's also known as Evening Primrose.
