Loved watching Sir Jackie Stewart push past security and grab Federer for Brundle’s pit walk. That the security guy didn’t have any idea who Stewart was demonstrates how out of touch US audiences are with the history of F1. There should be a mandatory class and test before any celeb or personal guards are allowed to roam the pits looking cool.

Well, even if a lots of thing happened, it was still a boring race. Verstappen made a power demonstration for Perez, and Alonso was great again - I hope he will win a race this year too!

My only disappointment were the Ferraris. They were so slow and powerless, that was a bad thing to watch, but LEC's performance was a total disappointment. I don't know what happened to him, but it's a hard thing to try to compare his current driving skills in this year to the last year. It almost look a like he forgot to drive a racecar.

If Jackie Stewart didn’t have access to the area it’s securities job to keep him out. Makes no difference who he is, and you can’t assume the security guard didn’t know who he is because he didn’t just let him in. It is not up to the security guard to make exceptions based on who they think is famous or deserving access.

I liked watching him sneak under the rope, love the “get it done” spirit, especially in someone of his age. But that he had to do that to get to Federer tells you he crossed the bounds and if anyone else had done it they’d have probably been hauled out of the race entirely in handcuffs. Someone knew who he is because, as far as I know, he didn’t get tossed.

I don't know, but every year I watch the Miami GP and I contemplate to stop watching F1....
It's a cringe fest every single year! CoTA is fine, feels more of a sporting event, with proper racing circuit. Miami is just pathetic in every single way, from the fake beach, the over the top post-race celebration with the god damn golf buggy, stars that are there but have no clue what F1 is about...

Liberty Media has been nothing but a curse to F1! From DTS and now cringe fest Miami GP, I would not dare to imagine what Las Vegas GP would be like...

An easy win for Ver.

He could have been forgiven for thinking that he had another lap to go. It was so boring they forgot to wave the chequered flag until he was well past the line.

The pack have no answer for Red Bull.

Great promotion for the host city / country.

We already have #FloridaMan on the 'F1 clueless Stars' case (pay no attention to their sudden alligator 'accident').

To me, the entire episode spoke to the new phony celebrity “appreciation” of F1, everyone walking the pits with their entourage and white sneakers hoping to be interviewed by Brundle but having no idea of the history, culture or legends of the sport.

That should’ve been driver of the day.

It really was fairy ridiculous though in all seriousness. Glad Sir Jackie just didn’t give a *…

I think that Max and his car are just so much better than everything around him, cheko is also so much better than the others but I believe that they will win 1 and 2 in the championship. I am of the opinion that Ferrari is slipping, but will be still slugging it out with AM and Merc. Would like the whole thing to be more equal but that is by the by. Hope Alonso does well, third would be fabulous, 2nd even better but can't see it happening.

Apologies, it should be SIR Jackie.

PS: F1 needs a 'Go Anywhere' badge. Guys like Martin and Jackie / camera crew....

After this race, I thought about how to make a race more interesting with more overtaking. And I have an idea: The DRS should be used as it was invented: For helping in the overtaking. But this in itself means, that it can't be used continously, or "forever". So in my opinion it would worth to consider that:

- a DRS can not be used if the distance increasing between the cars without the DRS. This could eliminate the Star Wars tractor beam effect which leds to the annoying DRS trains.
- a DRS can't be used for more then 2 laps to try to overtake. If there will be no overtaking, the use of the DRS should be banned for 2 laps.

This way a faster car would be able to overtake the slower cars which can hold their position only because of the usage of the DRS. The DRS trains could be eliminated and the almost same cars could fight for the positions in contrary to drive helplessly in the traffic.

What do you think about this?

I think F1 should try the "Push-to-Pass" model used by IndyCar. Everyone gets a certain number of seconds of additional horsepower to use as desired for closing gaps or passing. When it's gone, it's gone.

I think 'Goldfinger', Aston Martin - Boadicea type, tyre shredders
might liven-up overtaking.

would be interesting if the race gets a bit tighter through some kind of drama and red bull turns into 2016 mercedes and actually has both drivers pushing it for 1st. i feel like it would just be pure chaos with the personalities they have on there and i wonder if they're ready for the scenario where Checo is legitimately leading

I'm hoping for a little more thrills and spills (safe spills) this weekend, you know a little excitement in the race, I can't stay awake to watch processions.

No racing this weekend, Steve.
May 19-22 Emilia Romagna is next race. But we will have to see if any upgrades change the performance envelopes.

What about removing the DRS system completely?

Please don't think this comes from a do vein of knowledge, I just ask the question because I don't know the answer. It just seems that nowadays, one needs to get within a second and is guaranteed an overtake on a straight.

I agree with you. Its become much too predictable once they get in that DRS range of the vehicle they are following.
