How many of you are into shoes... (Dress Shoes)?

I know they are on sale in Nordstrom's now for about 35% off. I just bought two pair to try.

The only thing I read is they are made in Italy.

It's a pretty interesting hobby for me, and the missus likes it much more than watches or diving. Once I found out how not to pay retail for their shoes it made the budget stretch much farther. I think at full price this collection would be about a SubC. As it is, it's probably not even a preowned 5 digit DJ.

The MTO's from G&G cap off the startup plan. I'll be down to one or two pairs a year after they arrive, and then likely limited to MTO's like you.
Although JL and G&G are extremely nice for me any plan I would make would have to include more than just a few from EG as well.

Agree Dan. But as of now I haven't been able to get any to fit well. And as you say, fit is king.

184, 202, 888. I'm hoping out that the 82 will fit. I would like to have a pair of Galway's.

I have typically worn 202 on EG but just recently decided to take a shot on a pair on the 82 last in the same size and width. The 82 is just fine - maybe even a little more comfortable than the 202 for me. Good luck with your fit, but for me, the difference was not extreme at all.

I haven't been to this thread in a while. Quite a few nice acquisitions by many posters since my last visit. A few new shoes have arrived for me as well.

First, I finally replaced my tired (over 20 year old and re-soled multiple times) A-E Park Avenue oxfords with a new pair of EG Chelsea on the 82 last. Nothing too exciting for me about black dress shoes, but these were a very nice upgrade

My first pair of St. Crispin. Espresso grain derby with a very practical sole.

A St. Crispin custom MTO that just arrived yesterday. Thankfully a little bit of summer left to enjoy them.

I quite like the detailing on the rear

I really haven't been too attracted to some of the newer, contemporary John Lobb styles, but found these intriguing and very comfortable. They are getting quite a bit of wear this summer.

And finally, an early surprise as the GTO for these Enzo Bonafe Mahogany Cordovan boots was originally pegged for a Sept/Oct arrival. Received notice last week that they were ready. I am now prepared for Fall/Winter.

Sorry to hear but given the differences between the ones you listed and the 82 I certainly think there is a good chance the 82 will work out for you. Of course the Galway can be had on the 64 Last as well but that is definitely a much different boot than anything on the 82, 202, or even the 888.

Good Luck,

Dan

Thanks, Dan. As you know, I was mulling over options on the black Oxfords some time ago. The Bonafe chukkas were at a significant mark down and my size was one of the last remaining pair. Can't ignore that sort of mojo. The Lobbs were an impulse buy that just worked out.

The bonanza was when both MTOs showed up in the same week. I am now in the position of having nothing ordered or in the pipeline at all. Time to relax for a while and enjoy what I have.

Thanks. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for two MTO's from G&G. It's been three months, I'm hoping they'll be ready some time in August.

I know what you mean, I've had that happen a few times as well. It's both a blessing but on the other hand its always kind of nice when the arrive at different times as well.

I've kind of been on hiatus when it comes to shoes of late. Sort of been focused on things that go boom. Never owned one before but had a BB Gun when I was little and I am retired military so I've had a hankering to do some target practice so I picked up a few.

I have four pairs of shoes.
A brown pair, a black pair, black boots and brown boots.

Five if you count a pair of driving shoes.

I went through that phase (I hope I'm through it) in the late 90's/early 00's. Two large safes full, including several of the NFA variety. The cool thing with that hobby, like shoes and watches, is you get to enjoy the collectibles. If you buy the best quality you can afford, they will outlast most of your watches as well.

Wow, 2 safes full. But after just a few months and very little exposure I'm not surprised. For me for now nothing major although I did just place an order for something just two months ago I wouldn't have. Nothing to incredible I'm sure by your standards but fairly decent by mine at this point.

Be careful! They are like shoes. You will need one for every nuance and every occasion. You may even need several of the same model with slightly different features.

I have a collection of one handed spinny things in SS of the 1.5L Champaign variety from a single manufacturer (with a common last name) that is worth more than a new Daytona C. And that doesn't even come close to the value of the highly accurized long distance things and their optics. NFA gets you in the SS AP range with each purchase pretty quickly. It adds up fast and can get out of hand in a hurry once you catch the bug.
