Ready.
Pressure is on Ricciardo now as he goes from the Red Bull Sim and Silverstone test to the worst car on grid. Yuki is in his 3rd year now (?) and knows the car well. Conversely Yuki can't let RIC get into his car and show him up or that will pretty much the end of his career. Horner was on a podcast last week indicating that Checo has the drive in the RB for 2024, but Daniel is aiming for that seat for 2025. Is it deception on Horner's part to calm Checo down and have him perform well? Who knows but there's a lot of undercurrents happening before the summer break and silly season. |

The Official Formula One Thread!
Seriously though…on RIC…
Two things about his upcoming AT weekend: Wx & Gs It is going to be hot - with humidity. I don’t believe RIC has done any laps since being released from McLaren (except for the recent Pirelli tire testing) all has been Sim - and that was in a cooler clime. Which leads to the second thing: Gs Only 2 respites from the relentless ‘Ring. One, the front straight after a long 2.8g medium speed 180° turn 14, and the other being a briefer turn 3-4 shunt after a high speed peak 3.2g in turn 3. The two combined Wx/Gs factors could find him astern of TSU whose conditioning is at peak despite curious demonstrated skills. He should out qualify TSU but the race length with the combined physical toll may be inauspicious for RIC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

He did 100+ laps at Silverstone test which is much higher G load. Hungary is obviously tighter, slower and passing is going to be much more difficult (if the AT even has the chance at passing anyone). The following week at Spa is where I'd expect physical limitations, even with cooler weather, to be where the neck strain will come into play over a race distance.

Not a good start for Checo bringing out the red flag on his first flying lap in practice....
One needs to qualify well at this track due to its tight nature. Hoping for some rain to spice things up a bit tomorrow. |

With two champions on the first line who both have nothing to loose is going to make for the start of the season.
Who has the biggest pair

HAM must not crash out in T1 at the start due to AMG team being just 22pts ahead of Aston team. The long view is VER will win despite any strat AMG pulls out of the hat.
Due to RUS poor Q1 performance, millions € could change if ALO & STR finish in top 10 and Merc doesn’t score pts. Nobody can surmount RedBull’s constructor pts. I do hope for a stunning first lap though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

It works both ways. Hopefully, VER won't bully Ham and crash into him when trying to force HAM off track. i do agree with you Paul, there's far too much money at stake for points and sponsor exposure.

Perhaps not in F1, but I'm sure in karting, he wasn't at the top immediately.

HAM started as an RC car racer before ever getting into a kart. He immediately took a local championship against adult RC competitors.
In karts by 10, successful by 12, signed by 13. Won championships. Don’t know what NOR is about in that post. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

He's talking about F1, not RC or karts. Norris' car was dead last at the beginning of this season and through the efforts of their factory, are miraculously now on the podium. All he's saying is that Hamilton is complaining that he doesn't have the fastest car on grid anymore, but has never experienced being at the back of the grid, ever. In fact, in Hamilton's F1 career, he has never been in a car that couldn't win races as he won in each year he's competed, except in 2022, but his teammate won so he still was in a car that could win races in each year of F1 career. |

Is F1 shaking down Las Vegas businesses asking for $1500 per person just because they can see the track? Is this true Paul? What about the views from hotels, will F1 be blocking the view from the Cosmo, Bellagio, etc?

The Official Formula One Thread!
F1 (aka Liberty Media’s NASDAQ: FWONA) doesn’t set price. The organizer does all of that. Also the policies for the surrounding area.
Las Vegas governance also comes into play for the street circuit. As you can imagine after the tragic mass casualty incident, public safety is paramount. That could be a reason for the closed area(s). But now on to Spa… The beauty… Oh damn, the Beast 80% F-S + 60% S @ G/F Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Been watching the weather report for Spa (along with everyone else, I guess). Let's hope we don't have another 2021.

Thanks Paul, so a great view from the balcony if you have a hotel room at the Cosmo, Wynn, or other hotels should be expected. Makes sense to not have seating close to the street tack due to safety concerns.
Apologies for any confusion, it's not the media company, F1 itself asking for additional fees from businesses of $1500 per person and also asking Vegas/NV for additional money (new negotiations) for track facilities. Hopefully, F1 uses these fees for more teams.

All those fees are going to the organizer side. It’s confusing since LibertyMedia is serving a dual role.
The Media company put up the money. But the F1 series only gets their normal hosting fees. I think it’s about the same as who really owns a Casino Capiche? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
