Aging Room on the course early yesterday.

Punch Corojo this morning. Think I’ll bust out a couple special sticks for my round today

My stick of choice today is the Cohiba Macassar. So far I have enjoyed it every time I have smoked it.

What are you Puffing on now?

Pepin Blue early this morning. This cigar is like an LN Sub. Great for about any event or activity.

I figured this would be a great place to ask, I have been wanting to get into cigars for quite sometime and I wanted to know what recommendations you seasoned experts have on some possible first smokes. I've heard different names like Partagas, Romeo y Julieta and others but I am not sure where to begin. Thank you in advance.

Hi John, you will get a lot of different answers based on personal preference. Since you are just starting, mild to medium bodied cigars are a good start. Many of the cigars you see posted in this thread are strong.

Lately for a milder smoke I have liked the Undercrown Shade http://drewestate.com/brands/

My favorite cigar maker is Don Pepin "My Father" cigars http://myfathercigars.com/
but most of his blends are stronger.

Another favorite is Padron which are also on the stronger side https://www.padron.com/

You cannot go wrong with Arturo Fuente http://arturofuente.com/#/welcome-to-arturo-fuente

Lots of choices out there. Try some sample packs from some of the online retailers and figure out what you like. There are some good auction sites for cigars that have good deals on sample packs, cigarbid.com and cigarauctioneer.com for example.

Stronger cigars pair better with whiskey, otherwise the whiskey will stomp all over the cigar flavors...

Cigars are great with coffee and wine (reds, whites, sparkling). Lots of guys pair them with craft beer too.

And welcome to the brothers of the leaf

One of my favorite places on TRF. Got to know a few of these guys pretty well and a great source of info for cigars.

Thanks. I would not have even considered this. The more I have been reading, I did read about pairing with coffee and I have to admit, I had no clue that was a thing. I live in northern Colorado and there are many local breweries here. What are some of your favorite pairings?
