I love my smooth!! I have multiple fluted watches, so the smooth is a welcome change of pace. I reserve judgment until my AD receives his first fluted Platty, I myself being first on his list. I always felt the smooth was exclusive to the Platty and easily differentiated the watch from WG. I also think the smooth bezel plays like an OP rather than a fluted DD, for an under-the-radar understated watch. Time will tell once she's in my hands. In my mind fluted or smooth in the Platty is the pinnacle of Rolex, and both are winners.

The lure of the Pt. day date for me is the under the radar status, so it's smooth for me.

The smooth bezel gets scraped fairly easily.

Wow they are both sublime! I'd struggle with that too. I'm thinking the 1st one..

I agree yellow gold fluted on the DJ but on the DD platinum from the pictures smooth bezel. Maybe seeing in the flesh is different - that usually happen!

Fluted for me. I think it's better looking on the DDs than the smooth bezel.
Same goes for DJs.

I mean, either is beautiful. However, if I could choose, fluted would be it.

Smooth if you want low key, fly under the radar, otherwise fluted.

I love it. It's an unscratchable bezel! For anybody to not like this they'd have to be looking online only. In person, Rolex flawless diamonds are like Tiffany diamonds. Absolute

Generally, I'm in the smooth camp. But I like to think about the watch as a whole.

- If I have a smooth bezel, I would have it with a jubilee/pres bracelet.

- If I have fluted bezel, I would have it with an oyster bracelet.

- I would never pick a fluted bezel with jub/pres bracelet. It's just too much shiny bling blending in together, for me.

If I were you, I'd definitely get the smooth bezel. The contrast actually brings attention to each component better. So you notice the beauty of both the bracelet and the bezel separately.

I will unfortunately never own a Platinum DD but if I were lucky enough I would want fluted with baguettes…..
